Marble and Granite Service, Countertop and Backsplash Service
This company goes by another name, Celtic Marble and Granite. I'm not
sure why there are two names, but they are the same company. We don't
have any issues with their initial responsiveness or punctuality, but we had
major issues with quality. Celtic was recommended to us by others who
had wonderful results with granite countertop installation. I believe
that this is what they do best. We chose to install honed marble
countertops. We were never told that this would be difficult or
problematic. They said that the countertops would be chemically honed
prior to installation. First, the countertops were installed crooked
(not level). You could see an over 1" rise over 5 ft. from across the
room. When they came back to look at it we were met with some
hostility, being told that we had an old home with unlevel cabinets (not
true - we had them checked out prior to installation). In fact, the
problem occurred because the first countertop piece that was laid down by Celtic
was resting on the adjacent wall (sheetrock) at an angle. They didn't notice that it
wasn't lying flat on the cabinet until they had installed all other pieces
relative to it. Instead of pulling it out and starting over, they inserted massive shims to try and level it out, but it was still ridiculously unlevel. They re-installed the countertops (breaking one
in the process), but left a very uneven seam (raised 2-3 mm) between two
pieces and knocking a large chip of marble off the front of another
section. They came back to even up the seam, but in the process left a
series of deep, swirly marks from their rotary sander AND etchings from
the adhesive (showing up as fingerprints etched in the stone all around
the seam). Long story short: they came out several more times to "fix"
the problem, each time creating a bigger problem with the sanding until they finally
said that they would not longer try to fix the countertops. To be clear - we were not being overly picky. We had two contractors look at the countertops and they both thought that the job was horrible.
Celtic offered to 1) replace them with the lowest grade granite at no cost (but
we paid more than a $1000 more for our marble slabs so that money would be lost by us), or 2) send us a
check to have someone else fix them. They threatened that they could
"walk away from this whole thing without doing anything more" but that they wanted to try and reach a
resolution. Bottom line: they are probably great with granite, but
don't use them for Marble. They don't know what they are doing. We chose the check option and
hired someone else to fix the countertops. The Limestone Cowboy came in and had the countertops looking amazingly beautiful
in one afternoon...

Marble and Granite Service, Countertop and Backsplash Service
Original quote was several hundred dollars more than another vendor, however friends had used this company (under the name Celtic Marble & Granite) before. They came down a bit on their price, but did not match the competitor. I selected them anyway based on friends recommendation.
The countertops are beautiful, however I was somewhat disappointed in the service. They forgot about an appointment to do the template for my kitchen, however quickly responded once I called to remind them. During the template layout the gentleman took several phone calls - and in the end my countertops are off about 1/4" - overlapping a door facing slightly. The countertops were installed at 10am - however it was 6pm before the plumbing was connected. (Lots of hours with no work at my house.)
Lastly, we had a problem--which it turned out not to be anything they did--however when I called and emailed they did not respond. Finally when talking to them they were very dismissive of the situation, said they would come by the next day, but never did. In the end we were able to fix the problem and I don't believe it was anything they did - however it was concerning to be ignored when a problem arose. The countertops are beautiful, and believe they are high quality. I might use them again, but would be very sure to call and check up frequently. I felt I had a 'small' job - and they were much more focused on larger jobs they had going on.

Marble and Granite Service, Countertop and Backsplash Service
Sofia's workmanship was absolutely spectacular. They far surpassed our expectations, and the countertops in our bathroom turned out beautifully. They are fairly priced and extremely talented artisans, but they could improve on their customer service.

Marble and Granite Service
Sofia's Granite was excellent to work with. I felt like they really knew their products and had so much to choose from. The workmanship of the installer was great.
