We signed the contract with them in April for the repair. They were to coordinate with our insurance (State Farm) to get the work done and fixed.Obviously, there was a tremendous amount of work to be done in our area because of the size of the hailstorm and the amount of damage it inflicted. Every house in our neighborhood needed some sort of repair so we expected that there would be some delays due to volume of customers, getting supplies, etc. What we did not expect was that we would have to make 2-4 phone calls per week to get updates and find out where they were with either getting started on something or finishing something up. We started out with one project manager who disappeared due to personal issues and we got someone else. I was on the phone with my State Farm agent multiple times with him telling me that Chris had not yet sent the photos of the damage and then having to call Chris, who said he sent them but had issues with the emails being received. This went on for a couple of weeks and contributed to the delay in work starting.
Work started on our roof in June and it wasn't until September when they finished all the other tasks (gutters, siding, windows, deck, etc). Millennium is primarily a roofing company and that part of their work is excellent. If I was just rating them on that, they would get an A without issue. However, the subcontractors for the other tasks - gutters, siding, deck - were less than stellar. There work was good, but was fraught with delays for everything. For instance:
- Siding took forever to get here and to get installed
- Windows took a long time to be replaced (my husband finally took the screens that were ready and put them in himself rather than wait for the window guy to come)
- The deck guy pressure washed the deck on July 3rd, saying he'd come back the next day - really, on July 4th - and wasn't seen again until late August/September. When we told him he had to pressure wash again before staining, he was aghast to have to and quot;re-do thisand quot;
- Gutters were replaced, but without the toppers so we had to wait for another crew to do that piece later on
- When they put the toppers back on, they dented the gutters and didn't say anything (Millennium did repair this when we called and had them come see the damage from the ladder)
To summ up: If you need a roofer, they are great, but just make sure you get a phone number and keep in constant contact with them. The poor communication was the biggest issue for us, especially since I work in project management and know how vital this is to keeping customers satisfied. We can deal with delays if someone tells us about it and sets expectations up front. Not calling or letting people know when to expect work to start or when there are delays is no way to keep clients happy.
For the other tasks like gutters and such, they contract the job, so it will only be as good as the subcontractors chosen.

Removing a 90-year old slate roof is not an easy or uneventful process. The slates have sharp edges and great care must be taken not to injure other workers or other parts of the house during the removal process. The workers covered up bushes and shrubs, patio roof, a cement patio in the front of the house, and the AC unit. Despite these precautions, a small amount of ancillary damage did happen, e.g., a gutter on the back door enclosure was damaged, a small window in the same location was broken, and the AC unit needed to be cleaned. Millennium had all these items repaired promptly--paid for a service call by the AC technician, replaced the broken window, replaced the entire back door gutter even though only one end was bent.
Several weeks after the job had been completed and paid for, I spotted a short strip of original roof molding that needed to be replaced and painted. David, another Millennium worker, came out promptly and did this job. No problem getting this additional work done.
The roof looks very good. It's not a slate roof but it sure looks like one. And it won't last 90 years like the slate roof did, but I'm confident it will last 20-30 assuming no storm damage along the way. The Certainteed shingles are very robust and the application process followed the specifications carefully.

We contracted with this company almost a year ago ( June 2011) to do the work the insurance paid for. We have been through 3 project managers and the owner of the company. Although they were from Murfreesboro they assured us that they had a and quot;presenceand quot; here in Knoxville. They have a suite here, but no one was in it when we visited. We almost always have to leave a message on someone's phone and it usually takes days for the message to be answered. It usually takes even longer to get someone to come out to the house. Most of the time they are coming from out of town. We contracted with them in June 2011. It was September before they finally started work on the roof. Granted, it was a busy season and we were in no hurry. Due to the delay, they upgraded the shingles on our gazebo and detached garage. The company did not deliver all the items that insurance paid to be replaced. The roofers did a good job of putting on the roof using the materials provided. When we went up onto the roof to inspect the work we found that many items were missing: flashings, vents, all of the drip edge. We called the company and it took them several weeks to come and look at it and then several more weeks to replace different items.

They were supposed to stain and refinish the deck. They sent out a painter. He was extremely non professional. He didn't mask anything and didn't use a drop cloth. We have stain on our brick, siding, furnace vents, screen door, patio underneath, plants, stepping stones, fence.

They were supposed to paint the garage doors and trim. Again, no masking and no drop cloths. Our garage doors were painted completely shut and nearly came off the tracks when we tried to open them. The windows in the garage were full of paint. They didn't clean off the chipped and peeling paint or cobwebs and dirt. They just painted right over it all. After pointing this out to them they sent someone to scrape some of the paint off the garage windows.

They were supposed to repair one wooden screen door on the deck. They removed it to take it home and work on it. 3 months later they said they'd lost it. Without consulting us, they replaced it with a plastic door that didn't fit the opening, was about 6and quot; too short and didn't match the other screen door at all. They drilled new holes into the wooden frame and didn't bother to fill the old holes. The workers tracked mud and ground in berries into the deck carpeting that still hasn't come out. We complained about the new door being so different and they took it off and brought back a door that was closer in style to our original door, but still doesn't fit well and is plastic instead of our preferred wood. It would have been nice to have been asked about all of this in the first place.

They removed the screens in the garage windows to repair them at home. They brought us back someone else's screens 3 months later. They didn't fit. 3 months after that they brought more screens. They bent one in half trying to put it in. We're still waiting for that replacement.

The guttering - they used a cheaper method to replace our gutters with out consulting us. They cut an X in the trough and raised our existing downspouts up to be screwed to the X. The outlets that were originally between the trough and the downspouts were completely eliminated. The troughs were attached in a straight line instead of being raised at one end. The result is that the gutters don't drain and they leak out the X cut. We have since contracted with another company to fix the mess. The boys they hired to do the guttering work were extremely rude and unprofessional. The company did reimburse us $500 although the estimate from the second company was higher.

The company said they could put the drip edge, that insurance had paid for and that they had omitted, on the roof after all the shingles had been replaced. Against our better judgement we allowed it. The workers couldn't get the drip edge close to the house. A lot of the shingles that had to be lifted to put the drip edge on are broken. We are still waiting for the shingles to be replaced. We are repeatedly told that someone will be out and quot;tomorrow or the next dayand quot;. We paid them in full 8 weeks ago. In 2 weeks it will be a year and we're still waiting.

I called Millennium because of the excellent work and communication my neighbor had with them. When Derek first came out to look at the roof he was very pleasent and professional. He kept us informed every step of the way. He worked with our Insurance agent and helped maximize our claim. When the roof was put on it only took them a day, and they cleaned up everything as if they were never there. Our roof is beautiful, we couldn't be happier! My mother and brother-in-law were so impressed they both called Millennium and recieved a new roof. I would recommend Millennium Roofing to everyone!

Justin Carver came and gave us a price on the storm damaged roof and guttering. He arrived on time and was very professional. He also met with the State Farm insurance adjuster........the 2nd one from State Farm....since the 1st one said we didn't need a new roof. He explained to them what was going on and handled all the details for us. He also got back with us in a timely manner and explained what was needed, how much the costs were and when his company would be able to start. He didn't ask for any money until after the job was completed to our satisfaction......in fact, he waited almost a week to get his money!!! His workers were on time and did the job in a timely manner. After they were through, I only found one roofing nail!! Also, the price of the work was exactly what was quoted to us in the beginning! Yes, I would recommend them and would definitely hire them again!! In fact, I took the recommendation from Angie's List and hired them!!

The main guy was very friendly, prompt, and at the beginning there was small leak in the roof and they immediately fixed it like within the hour. However, finishing up getting the subcontractor to be sure the guttering is exactly the way I want and I guess maybe it's not their fault it's been like the weather because we have had a lot of rain and they can't get out here and do it and that's been slow.

Very well. I was impressed because he (and the adjuster) had originally diagnosed a roof problem as the cause of the leak. When the roof was replaced, the leak was still there, and ultimately proved to be from the chimney. Mr. Carver was willing to decrease his price because he had missed the diagnosis.

Overall, the process went smoothly. The only quibble we had with Millennium had to do with communication. The first encounter was missed because Millennium incorrectly had a different day for the meeting. During the weeks of waiting for the product to arrive, we heard nothing. Once the product arrived, we received very terse emails with no call back number or contact information (other than reply to the email), etc. The day the workers arrived, the owner did not until quite late in the day (although we did receive a phone call). We were available at the house when the owner arrived on both days, but it would have been nice to have times set before hand to meet . For example, both my spouse and I would have preferred discussing the progress of the job with the owner. Even though the communication was not perfect, the job went very well and with no glitches. Mostly the extra interactions would have helped us with our own sense of the job. We hope not to have to replace a roof again soon, but if we did (i.e., moved to another house that needed a roof) we would absolutely call on Millennium.

I was introduced to Steven Carver through the recommendation of another roofing company. Steven was very helpful in explaining his estimate and my options regarding the roof replacement, who would be doing the work, when the work would commence, and when the job would be completed. Everything went according to plan. The crew worked very efficiently and took great care to not damage the landscaping, etc. I am very happy with my new roof and will recommend Millennium to my neighbors and friends. Steven and his team are pros.

Basically this is the second time I have used Millenium and Steven Carver, because they treated me so well the first time and the work was excellent. Overall things went very well. As with any project, you never know what the actual cost will be until you get into it, especially on an old house. Millenium's estimate was not far off, but we did spend more on floors, electrical and a window. Please note that none of this was the fault of Millenium. They recommended people for those jobs and the work was excellent, especially the floors. As I have before, I highly recommend Millenium for your project. Steven Carver has a great crew, much of which is family and he's honest and brings a lot to the table.

The entire project went extremely well, which I was very surprised at. I got over 5 different estimates from other contractors first. From day one Steven Carver was fantastic. He came up with some great ideas and talked me out of what I didn't need. He was honest and straightforward the whole way. His crew was professional and worked incredibly fast and efficiently. There was no lack of quality either. Steven didn't even take any money until he was halfway done, which rarely happens. John Carver was more of the same. He made some great suggestions and gave me a great deal for superb work. That's why I had him come back 2 months later and work on my fence. Overall, the Carvers, and Millenium as a whole, were everything you could hope for when dealing with contractors. I highly recommend them to anyone for price, quality and true customer satisfaction.

The price I show does not have the gutters included. They actually replaced some and remounted others. I was very happy with their work and felt that they were professional, very polite and that they cleaned up well. I would recommend them to others.

The main contractor, Millennium, shows a lot of character and integrity in doing the job. I would recommend them to others. I would have given them better grades had they completed the job sooner.
