In short, all of my interactions with Fessler Home Improvement have been outstanding; the person answering the phone on the initial call, John Haley (a project manager) and Jim Fessler (owner/general manager) each provided us with exceptional service.
I made the initial call to Fessler's and spoke with a receptionist who took my information and told me she would forward it to someone in the company who would call me back soon to determine what was needed. John Haley called me back within an hour or two and we scheduled his visit to do an initial inspection of the problems we had had. John arrived at our house a few minutes before the scheduled time and would have waited in the car until the scheduled time had I not gone out to meet him. (Not everyone likes it when people show up before a scheduled appointment!) John looked at the damaged areas in our house and checked the inside structures supporting our roof where the leaks had occurred, which he said did not appear to have any ongoing issues, and did an initial visual inspection of the roof. He pointed out a number of loose shingles that he said were likely due to wind damage and a few other potential problems that required a more through inspection of the roof with another member of his crew.
Since the thorough inspection was of the exterior roof, we were not required to be home. However, our house was already on the market and our realtor strongly suggested that no workmen be around the house during a showing. John went out of his way to schedule around our realtor to ensure that they would not interfere with any showings.
Their more thorough inspection indicated that the roof was in decent shape for its 15 year age but noted that there had been some repair work done in a few different places (not the entire roof). Some areas appeared damaged by wind or other weather events and these areas could be repaired to minimize the risk of water intrusion but they were not needed immediately as the overall integrity of the roof was good.
Since the house was listed for sale we were considering proceeding with the repairs in case the roof was a point of contention that could threaten a deal. However, before we could move forward with a plan for repairing the roof, we wound up getting multiple offers on our home and went under contract rapidly. The buyers had a home inspection a week or two later that described several issues with how the house was framed that could pose problems for roof integrity (among a host of other issues). To better assess how much work on the house could be needed, the buyers hired a general contractor to prepare an estimate, but scheduling the subcontractors to examine the specific problems was difficult since this was right around the holidays.
While we were waiting to hear about when the subcontractors were going to determine the extent of repairs needed, I received a call from Jim Fessler, who was concerned that there may be damage to our roof that was scheduled for repair but had not yet been repaired due to their busy schedule over the holidays. He just wanted to make sure that all of our needs were being met. When I explained the entire situation to him and noted that the buyers were having their own roofing guys check out the roof, Jim recommended I forward any suggested roof repairs to them so they could ensure the work was necessary and fairly priced, indicating that he wanted to ensure that the roofing industry maintained the highest standards. Wow. That entire conversation impressed me greatly.
In the end the buyers did not have any issues with the roof, aside from the few loose shingles, and the sale went through without Fessler doing any repair work.
I had been impressed enough by my interactions with John Haley and the receptionist that I had already planned on writing a review about them. But, after the owner/general manager called me on his own to ensure that his company was doing everything they could for us, I felt I had to share everything I could about this exceptional company. Even though, in the end, we did not require their services for repairing our roof, I hold Fessler Home Improvement in the highest regard due to their professionalism, punctuality and apparent concern for homeowners. If we ever need work done on the roof of our new house, I will be calling Fessler.
I met Jim Fessler after being referred by a realtor friend of mine. I called his office to set up an appointment for an assessment of my leaking roof. When I called, Brenda, who I later learned is Mr. Fessler?s daughter, answered and made a warm first impression of the company. She was friendly and professional. She assured me Jim would be at my home that morning. He arrived within a couple of hours and quickly identified the problem areas on my roof. I filed an insurance claim, and he met with the adjusters to provide additional storm information as well as show the damage to the roof. He was truly an advocate for me throughout the claims process.
As soon as the claim was processed, he and his crew readily arrived to install the roof. They had to remove two roofs and two satellite dishes before the roof could be installed. He made sure every requirement of the manufacturer?s warranty was met to maximize the life of the warranty. He stayed to supervise the work and remained very involved in the project.
Due to my leaking roof, there was damage to the interior of my home. The siding on the house also needed some repairs and staining. Santos and the painting crew did a great job. They were courteous and helpful. They made a major difference in the appearance of the house. Robert worked his magic making repairs to my hardwood floor. In all phases of the project, Mr. Fessler and/or project manager Matt Comparin inspected the work and addressed any questions or concerns I had. They gave me their cell phone numbers for quick access to them if needed.
My existing tin roof over the porch had some rust. Mr. Fessler had his crew seal and protect it with a hardy, top-of-the-line product that not only makes it look like new, but also prevents leaking.
After all of the repairs and improvements, my house looks new again. I highly recommend Jim Fessler and Fessler Home Improvement & Construction Co., LLC to anyone needing an honest, knowledgeable and professional contractor. He is a man of integrity. I rest assured that he will stand behind his work. Mr. Fessler is responsive, reasonable and reliable. I will not hesitate to call him again if I need additional work in the future. We recently accepted a contract on our house. The inspector found some shingles that had been damaged when I removed a tree that was too close to the house. A quick call to my original sales associate and the repair date was scheduled. It was completed on time, at a fair price, with the same type of shingle we put on the house 4 years ago. It was the most painless repair on the punchlist! The new house we are moving into will need a new roof in 5-10 years and I will definitely call and get an estimate from Fessler's!
