Our first meetings we loved The owner/builder Brian. However, as construction progressed he became increasingly difficult. Wanting to cut corners. For example, our plan included beautiful arches with columns which he wanted to make square with drywall columns. We finally won this battle, but it wasn't easy. We wanted granite in the bathrooms and would pay for the upgrade. He wouldn't return calls or make it happen. I finally spoke to the granite I stalky myself, paid him directly and he made it happen. His communication got worse and worse. Finally, when our garage started to droop in the middle I had to pay for a home inspection to document the damage and insisted on more than a cosmetic fix (both the inspector and another builder had said the damage was structural) lost that battle, but have the report for if/when it becomes a problem. He convinced me to keep a tree and then put an enormous amount of full dirt on top which killed the tree. Now I have to pay (over $500 to have it removed). You would think a professional in his business would know this would happen. The "two car" garage is incredibly small and because of the steps that lead in the house we can only park one car on there. The only positives I can say are the following: the price was great for the Market at the time, he let us pick the design we wanted, let me add the cost of our fence to the price of our house, used an excellent architect (architect was top notch). My experience was awful over all, but notably building experiences are wonderful from what I understand. It wasn't the disagree to that yield my overall opinion, but the owner's lack of respect, poor communication and blatant rudeness.
