"This is EXACTLY the reason we require deposits from our customers. When the member originally contacted us it was about a large garage that he was going to add onto his home. We sent our estimator out the next day, September 12th not August, and walked thru what all he wanted done. Originally the estimate was for the new garage wiring, a 400 amp upgrade and wiring for an in ground pool. There were several questions which the engineer from the power company needed to answer and we scheduled a meeting with them onsite. After 3 phone meetings and 2 meetings with the engineer, it was determined that the member's garage was going to cause issues with being built on top of the power company's primary lines. The plan was modified and we waited to hear from the customer that his building was under construction. 2 MONTHS later the member contacted us and said he was unable to hire a contractor to build his garage but that he had the in ground pool under way. We sent our guys out to wire some sconce lights and prepare for the pool wiring. Unfortunately this customer does not understand the changes that he made in the schedule and in the plan caused additional work and the wiring for the pool, which was originally to come off the new service thru the new garage, was now being done into his original panel. Additionally, the member requested 2 dedicated circuits for computer equipment in his existing garage and had ordered a 400 Amp generator for his home. At this point we were into December and had hundreds of emergency calls coming in due to inclement weather and holiday activities. Our crew was sent on calls in which families did not have heat and/or power in their homes instead of to wire this in ground swimming pool that no one was going to be using for 2-3 months and this upset the member. We also didn't bother to ask for additional payment at this time due to the trouble the member was having getting a contractor to build his garage. The pool wiring was underway when the member called and requested to let the pool installers do the bonding. This is technically not allowed unless the pool installers pull their own permit with a license they DID NOT HAVE. However we agreed to let them do it because it freed us up to help another family and we where there to check the work before the inspection was done. In our area the inspectors have 72 hours after we submit for inspection to come. In this case there was rain and mud and as the inspectors are extremely busy there was a delay in the inspection. Not sure what the reason was but we passed on the first go and the member was not happy because he was possibly planning to swim in January? Yes, I am sarcastic about this customer due to his condescending attitude and all the time we put into his project planning and modifying as he changed things. Finally, on Christmas eve I was unable to make it to a meeting with the member due to the volume of calls we had from family's with electrical emergencies in their homes. Randy fired us that day. He had paid in 2 deposits, one for $1900 and one for $1500. The pool wiring, sconce lights, dedicated circuits for computer equipment and all permits where $2675. We had extended some discounts as a part of the package for hiring us to do the garage wiring ($2500), 400 Amp Service upgrade ($2500) and generator package ($1000-$2000) however those discounts do not apply when you fire someone and give that work to some other company. The member just doesn't seem to understand that you can not take advantage of a discount for buying in bulk when you only buy one part of the whole package. The member has since been credited by the credit card company $1500 and owes us $775. As of this response it is still outstanding and unpaid."
