They apologized and rescheduled for a Saturday since my husband left work early to be there for the missed appointment. Saturday came, and again, the rep never showed up. I called back a third time, this time I was frustrated. The operators have been very polite and apologetic but it's very scattered there. On August 15th, we had scheduled ANOTHER appointment with them stating this would be the last attempt. The rep was supposed to be here at 10am and I got a call from the rep saying he was on his way at 9:45am. No big deal. Right after that, an operator called me and told me that the rep was going to be an hour late. I reluctantly agreed to the new time and waited. At 10:05am, the rep showed up. I was really confused at this point.
The rep came in and took photos of every room in the house. In my opinion, I did NOT see an "inspection" take place. He literally walked around with a digital camera and took photos of all of our rooms. It was strange. When he was leaving, he asked if we had a pest control issue since we're near the woods. We mentioned that we see silverfish in our bathrooms on occasion and he said that we probably have a leak in our roof. I honestly don't know what to think now, but the overall experience was very strange. Even after he left, he peeled out of the street in his truck and it was rather loud. I would NEVER hire these people with my own money!
With that out of the way, let me make it crystal clear to the reader: Based on literally 7 different professional opinions (i.e 7 different companies, inspectors, and general contractors; there were more than 7 opinions if you include their employees, and other folks without crawl space moisture "domain expertise"), the work allegedly performed by Ameri Care to remediate moisture and mold in the crawl space was sub-standard in the absolute best case. I will not elaborate on what they stated was the most likely case.
Keep in mind that our purchase of the home was almost entirely based on Ameri Care's representation of the condition of the crawl space to the seller, as stipulated in the buyer's inspection contingency response. As stated, they "found Inspector findings were false and ha[ve] requested the buyer to contact them for verification." We did so, and their representative (which I shall not name) in a nutshell said the same thing.
Each one of the aforementioned specialists performed thorough evaluations of the crawl space after we had purchased it. Each one of them came to the same conclusion. To put it succinctly, I had our insurance inspector evaluate the situation, even speculating existing mold likely wouldn't be covered. I wanted a paper trail of the situation. His words were "the only work they performed on your house was invoice preparation."
Literally everything Ameri Care did under our crawl space was either wrong, or a poorly implemented treatment of the symptoms and not the causes of the moisture and mold problems. The vapor barrier they installed was not sealed correctly. It did not cover all of the crawl space under the ductwork. It was perforated where they installed it over broken cinder block debris. There was medium to heavy new mold growth all over the crawl space, in the words of every professional who evaluated it. Some of them took pictures for documentation purposes. I could go on and on and on with more details, but I will save it at this point for legal professionals.
Suffice it to say that after I called them back with these discoveries, the cop out from the representative was that they performed the work in the winter, when the A/C wasn't operational, thus they couldn't assess potential ductwork condensation issues. There's a problem with this line of reasoning, as I told him: 1) The A/C ductwork isn't the only source of the moisture and mold; 2) That doesn't excuse the poor quality of the work that was performed; 3) The fungal "treatment" was a spot treatment at best, and any reputable mold remediation expert would know that it would be unsuccessful on a crawl space with 90+% RH in a Tennessee summer.
To add insult to injury, the representative offered a "free" fungal re-treatment. Yeah, as if that makes up for the tens of thousands of dollars we've had to spend in crawl space renovation, drainage installation, rotten joist and sill replacement, deck demolition, ductwork removal and replacement, insulation removal, foundation vent installation and HEPA vacuuming! All of this was absolutely, 100% necessary in order to stabilize our crawl space -- and it wouldn't have been necessary for us to spend that money if they had CORRECTLY informed the seller that our inspector's findings were accurate!
Needless to say, go with the top-notch professionals, pay the extra money to have it done 100% right, and stay away from this company!
Ameri Care Services Inc.do like a four times a year treatment for pests outside our house and then if we call them any other time if we are having problems they will come and do it for free. The payment is made quarterly.
They have one technician who is specially helpful and I really like him. If I can get him I would have given an 'A' for everything.
.
Each time I had a different technician and even the owner’s son (Jared) on the last visit who was quite personable. He’ll be a good owner some day. That said, every one was a professional and knew their business. They did their work quickly and efficiently. I have no doubt they have done so for years and had considerable experience.
They pointed out any minor or potential problem and addressed issues immediately. Unlike the large chain-type providers, these guys are all about the customer’s needs and not trying to sell you packages and unnecessary services.
