We were so pleased with the work that was done. Bobby and his crew are very professional, creative and skilled. We were impressed with how they cleaned up at the end of each day and didn't leave a mess. They were open to new ideas and offered ideas regarding each project.
We are on the schedule for a new deck extension in the spring. Don't hesitate to hire them !! Very pleased
I can honestly say I have never had a contractor pay so much attention to detail as Bobby and his crew have. He and his crew were friendly and professional, prompt and reliable. And they have exceeded my expectations with that attention to detail and with what they were able to do with my steep backyard.
I never thought I would be able to say this about any contractor, but I can highly recommend Bobby Hughes and his crew without any reservation at all.
The removal of the old concrete roof was more difficult than anticipated due to the roof having 2 concrete layers. He could have not anticipated the roof being two layers thick. Then the condition of the exposed walls, after the roof was removed, was poorer than hoped. Without a blink Bobby worked up a plan to sure up the old walls and worked to minimize the additional cost for the fix. With the help of the mason cinder block was added to sure up the walls so the new roof would be stable and provide a backing for the new brick. After the repaired walls were in place he fabricated a new slanted roof system providing a roof access configuration for well access. He insulated the new roof and finished off the inside ceiling will cellular PVC bead board strips provided by the property owner.
Bobby reworked some of the plumbing to install a new frost free exterior faucet and changed out the old fuse box electrical connection to a new circuit breaker. He also installed a new GFCI external outlet and to code electrical light inside the well house.
Bobby demonstrated a concern for historical aesthetics by helping direct the mason on the type of brick to use and how the joints should be mortared to resemble existing structures on the property. Also Bobby wanted to use a metal roof to keep the structure in charter with a nearby out building. The door he built for the well house was also created with a historical perspective.
The weather also threw Bobby and his mason some challenges since we had an unusual cold snap which made doing masonry work challenging and forced some delays. Bobby, et al, worked very late into the evening (after 9:00pm) a couple of nights to make as much progress as possible while the weather cooperated.
Why I graded a "B" on punctuality and responsiveness is because the weather caused some confusion about when the mason and Bobby were going to be on the job (i.e. day and/or time of day). We would have the schedule on what was going to happen the next day and then things would not turn out as scheduled. Again the weather and using a new mason sub-contractor assisted in the confusion, but the confusion could have been reduced with a phone call to me early in the day. Please note this is a minor complaint on my part since it did not impact the quality of work or our working relationship with Bobby.
Again we are very satisfied with the work that was done and our relationship with Bobby and his workers. Without hesitation we would look to hire Bobby again in the future.
The work went very smoothly and completed on time. Four large glass plate windows had to be removed so new double hung windows could be installed. The main floor stairs landing had to be narrowed to allow for trim work to be installed around main entrance door. A new railing system was installed with beautiful wrought iron balusters. The all the workmanship was superior. I must state I did provide some of the materials so the total job was more than the stated contract amount paid to Bobby Hughes.
"It was a pleasure working with(Member name removed) and I hope to do business with him in the future should the need arise! Thank you for your business!"
The new support footers were one third the size of original ones and they were sunk into the ground three feet with ample re-bar support. The deck was completely level when completed. In the shower area, vent was re-installed properly a vented to the outside. A ceiling was installed and the walls had concrete board properly installed and sealed.
The job was scheduled to take twelve days but ended up taking almost a month because of weather delays and dealing with several unforeseen issues that arose.
"Please note that all work performed for {removed member name} was in Newport, TN. It was our pleasure to serve him in this location of our coverage area."
