Lawn Tool Repair
$270
I have a commercial Toro mower that was running poorly earlier this spring when I first attempted to use it. It was leaking oil and didn't have enough power to mow. I took it to the Lawnmower shop at 4667 Shelby Rd in Millington. I've seen commercial mowers in front of the place before, and they always seem busy, so I assumed they were at least compentent. Wrong. The mower has a 62 inch deck and I didn't have a way to transport it. This shop offered to pick it up and deliver for $45, which is reasonable to me. They kep the mower for 2 weeks the first time, which is not reasonable to me. We went by and paid the $270 bill at the store. When the brought it back, we took it off the trailer and it was blowing oil and smoking. We refused to accept it, and the guy admitted that it was still broken. He took it back and they kept it anohter 2 weeks. When he brought it back, it seemed to be running a little better, but it still wasn't right. It was not leaking immediately. We ran it for about 15 minutes and it started blowing oil and smoking. I called them and they came and got it again for a third try. This time, the owner appologized to us and said it was obviously not properly repaired and said he would put his best man on it. After about a week and a half, he brought it back. This time, it ran for about 30 minutes before it started to sputter and blow oil again. It didn't have enough power to engage the blades. I finally gave up and bought a trailer and took it to Kalb Equipment Co in Memphis, which is where I bought it. They said it had a blown head gasket. It cost $364 to get that fixed, but at least it works now.

Dropped off chainsaw for repairs. Returned a week later, they said it was fixed. When I brought it home and tried to prime the saw, it sprayed gasoline in my face. I brought it back and they said they would fix it right away. I waited a month and decided to visit place for the fourth time. They said it was junk. At no time during this event did they ever call me, I had to come there to get information. They also never provided any documentation as to what work was performed. I called this owner, Joe, at night and he said the saw was unfixable. When I explained to him the above info, he said he didn't know anything about the first "fix" and said it was now junk. I said I wanted my money back, he screamed at me and said no way. I went there for the fifth time today to retrieve my saw, it was in pieces, got no customer service from this business and I am out over $100 including all the gas to drive to this horrible business.
