Two weeks after sending emails requesting housecleaning services from The House Call Memphis (as instructed via their voice mail message), I received a flurry of emails (approximately 5 or 6) in a single day. I had hoped I could use both two-hour coupons for a four-hour housecleaning, but that was not permitted. They were so adamant about this point I was a little unsure if I had actually scheduled the housecleaning on the requested date. I sent several emails and left a few voice mail messages the week prior to the scheduled cleaning with no reply whatsoever. On the day of the scheduled services, we lightly cleaned the house in the morning (getting everything out of their way for the housecleaning), expecting to be contacted and given an idea of when to expect The House Call Memphis to arrive at our home. By noon I was convinced they were not coming, and my wife asked me to call them. I called and left a professional, but specific voice mail message, advising that if I was not contacted that day then I wanted a full refund and we could cancel the services altogether. Within an hour, I received a call from Jennifer or Jeannette (I wasn't sure which one she said her name was and did not want to ask again) informing me she was en route to provide the scheduled housecleaning services.
She arrived within 40 minutes of the original call, but only brought a bag that appeared to contain rags. She did not even bring a vacuum cleaner (she used ours) or a mop (she used ours). We only asked that she clean the bathrooms and our wooden floors (which included our five-year-old son's upstairs bedroom and the entire first floor). She started upstairs, cleaning the upstairs bathroom and my son's room. She then came down the stairs and began cleaning the floors with our vacuum and cleaned the living room bathroom and the master bedroom bathroom and the master bedroom. She was finished within an hour and fifty minutes. I asked if she had mopped all the floors, and she told me she had. I tipped her $20.00 and once she was gone, my wife told me she did not mop the floors. My wife said she had to request that she mop our son's room, upstairs. I then inspected the housecleaning provided. There were no chemical smells, or fragrances. Nothing 'smelled' or looked as if it had even been cleaned. My five-year-old son could have done a better job. Perhaps this individual employee is not representative of the entire staff of The House Call Memphis, but the experience was so horrible I refuse to invite them into our home again.
Since I purchased the services via Groupon, I have lodged my complaint with them, but I wanted to also share the experience with Angie's List customers. If the Groupon special is ever made available again, you should know what you're buying. Calling and emailing The House Call Memphis about your Groupon purchase was a frustrating process, and the job performance made us feel more than a little 'ripped off.'
We are done with The House Call Memphis and will NEVER purchase another discounted housecleaning service ever again.
Lesson Learned.
