The Finishing Touch

With the next rain, it was clear the skylight was still leaking. Mr. Black promised to return in a few days to finish the job. It is now almost 5 months later, and Mr. Black has ignored repeated phone and text messages about this issue. My patience with him is over.

This project is 2 months overdue. They have not been to my house to do any work for 3 weeks. He has gotten sideways with his money, asked me for additional funds since he could no longer afford to pay his workers. I gave him more money and now he still cannot pay his workers to complete my project. We have had numerous emails and Text Messages and broken promises. He realizes that I have overpaid him for completed work and it is going to cost more than what I owe to complete my job. I have had to hire another contractor to finish the job.

Overall,things went well.  The workers were there everyday, on time.  They were pleasant to work with.  The construction manager was easy to talk to and responsive.  They did everything I requested.  The job took a little longer than was anticipated.  The only 'negative' was that the estimate was lower than the actual total cost.  It was difficult to gauge the expenses because we changed things along the way - adding new projects and taking out others. Overall, I think we got a fair price for everthing that was done.  We just didn't expect it to cost as much as it did from the original estimate.  It was over about $8,000.00.

Hector and David were extremely fast and attentive to detail. Their painting was frailness and they cleaned up fixtures and switch plated without being asked something i was not expecting given the great price.
