The Clock Doctor

FRAUD! Ask the police. Uses his home as "shop" as home is private property so you can't "trespass" to get your property back. Had to hire attorney to get clock back. DO NOT USE HIM.

I am very satisfied with his work. His price for labor and new movement was higher than most other clock repairmen, but his experience, expertise, and attention to detail were worth the additional cost.

The clock movement was removed from my home and taken to the shop for cleaning. The price was ridiculous ($550). After two years the clock needs cleaning again. I suspect it was never cleaned the first time, but rather removed and replaced a week later.

He performed the duties as advertised on the grandfather clock, but charged me as if the mantle clock worked. It was returned in the same working condition as it was when it left my house. It was returned broken.

The clock cost $1000 dollars new 22 years ago. We find this price ($600) to be outrageous. After googling the price online we found it to be reasonable to charge as low as $200 and as high as $500. We will not be back with this vendor.

I visitied him on January 18. He was supposed to fix my cuckoo clock. He told me that he COULD do it and, when I told him how long a previous repair had taken, he said that it wouldn't take him all that long. I was required to give a $150 deposit for the repairs. The check was cashed on the same day I wrote it. He had the clock for 7 weeks. I called several times asking for the status of the clock and he did not respond to my answering machine messages . After trying several times, unsuccessfully, to reach him by phone, I went to his house (where he also does the repairs). The first time I went to his house I rang the bell and knocked on the door, but nobody would answer. Lights were on in the house and a dog was barking. I drove by his house several times over the next week or two and finally saw him working in his driveway, so I stopped. I asked for my clock back and was told I had to wait until the next day for him to package it. He told me that he had ordered a new music box, but had ordered the wrong one and had to do it over. I asked him why he didn't return my calls and he said he was out of town. But, I had left 4 messages over a 3 week period! I returned the next day and was given the clock, without a music box. He had told me that he had to ship the music box away to get a replacement. I called a couple of days later, expecting his answering machine, but he answered the phone. I asked him if he would tell me the model number / serial number of the music box so I could order one myself and he refused my request. I tried to file a complaint with the BBB, but he is not a member and I was told that there were a number of similar complaints already on file about this man. I would not recommend that anyone do business with this man. He promises you that he can and will fix your clock; gets his deposit money; and does not do the work. Nor will he respond to phone messages. He is $150 richer for doing nothing. I just hope that this review prevents anyone else from being ripped off. My cuckoo clock has a lot of sentimental value to my wife and I. He couldn't have cared less.
