Matt Page and crew is great. The house is an 85-year old typical Midtown house with a small bathroom. We met with Matt and James to go over the possibilities with the intent to hold down costs by keeping existing walls if possible. They ended up moving some doorways so that we include the existing hallway in the expanded bathroom. They also rebuilt the closets. Matt and crew involved us every step of the way to make sure we were happy with the floor plan. Also, the tile work is beautiful. They added a knee wall at the end of the bathtub with glass panel for the end cap. It turned out great. Our bathroom is open and airy, but still seems in sync with an 85-year old house. They redid our bathroom window which had been covered up for 20 years. Everything ended up amazing. We will use them for the outside and window replacement next.

They were very responsive and got to the work very quickly. The price was fair for the work that was performed. After they were done, I didn't feel as though the ceiling repair was as good as it should have been. When I requested touch-up on that, Mike got there very quickly and corrected the situation to my satisfaction.

I was very skeptical because of previous experiences with other home repair companies. But Matt and his crew showed up when they said they would and did a great job. Every day they were on time and took care of my concerns and questions without hesitation. After they were done said if I see anything that doesn't look right or if it doesn't hold up over time, to call. I did call him back to repair some caulk that pulled away from the window frame. They came out, once again on time, and repaired the window without question. Said to be sure and call if any other problems come up. I will use them again.

Matt was very easy to reach, and was able to make an appointment to have our work done the day after I called him. These were relatively small jobs, but being new home owners we did not want to attempt installation on our own.
They arrived about 30 minutes after the originally scheduled time, but this was not a huge deal. They got started right away, and made quick work of everything. Everything turned out great, our Art Wall looked especially awesome.

Since finding S&M Customs on Angie?s List, I have used them
twice and have been extremely pleased both times. First, I had a plaster ceiling
which cracked and partially fell. S&M took out the entire ceiling and replaced
it with sheetrock. When I called requesting an estimate, the call was returned promptly
and Matt came out to provide an estimate in a timely manner. I felt the estimate
was extremely reasonable. The work was completed in a timely manner, the workman
were professional and cleaned up after themselves each day. I was extremely pleased
with the finished project. I then had them sheetrock a room which was previously
an enclosed porch. The room was
partially brick and partially wood. They sheet rocked the room and the finished
product was amazing. It completely exceeded my expectations. I never thought
that ?awkward? room could ever look as good as it does. Again, they were
professional, completed the job timely and the price was reasonable. I highly
recommend S&M Customs and I will continue to use them for any future home
improvements projects.

Matt arrived immediately to give an estimate of damage and cost to repair a kitchen from years of water damage from a recurring leaking pipe under the kitchen sink. I own the house but live in South Carolina so it was important to me that Matt be knowledgeable, trustworthy, and have my best interest economically in mind. I felt confident in him from our first meeting. He offered me the option of buying all new kitchen cabinets from a wonderful wholesale place. He also offered to build them himself or tile the counter tops by hand. I would not otherwise have known about the warehouse.He arrived to start work on the scheduled, committed day even though delaying me cold have allowed him to get other more lucrative jobs. From pictures as well as the work he did for me, Matt is an absolutely an excellent, artistic, and creative tile installer. I think he would be excellent at building a shower or whole bath out of tile. Matt was also adamant that I be satisfied with the job even if it meant redoing or changing something I just turned out not to like. I did understand from people in and visiting the house and neighbors that even though the work was done well and closely supervised by Matt his workers did not always conduct themselves as professionally or respectfully as might have been desirable, but I am sure that had I known or anyone had brought these things to Matt's attention he would have addressed them immediately and effectively. The complaints were about leaving the house unlocked and with air condition cut down low at the end of the day, complaining about the job and procrastinating, and criticizing a neighbor's parenting even though she explained she was following advice of a psychologist to cure her child of separation anxiety. But, nothing so serious, all possibly exaggerated or defendable and definitely will be corrected when Matt hears about it, so I plan to hire him again and soon to build a tile shower enclosure, tile the floor of a guest house and add a bathroom. I for sure trust his plumbing knowledge and electrical knowledge since he discovered the culprit leaking pipe was still leaking after I had paid a professional plumber more than 600 dollars on two occasions to fix it. Matt might be listed as a "Handyman" but you are definitely getting the service you might expect from a fully licensed contractor (which he might be) as well as the skills of a professional kitchen consultant and decorator at a far lesser price.

The guy S & M Customs gave me a price as much as what I set the job done for. He walked in and just said the price without writing anything or done anything. Their price was stupid and ridiculous. I got another guy who has done the job with a lesser price.

These were repairs to a rental property that I had rented and needed the repairs done quickly. The whole crew was professional and efficient, and the work that they did was well done.

Update: 10/11/13: The work started on time as Matt had said. He and his co-worker were very efficient and very professional. They made use of our own tiles that were left over from a previous job. They completed the work within a couple of days: prepared the wall and laid the tiles on day 1 and then grouted and finished on day 2.

The crew arrived on time each day--except when materials had to be picked up. I had already purchased the ceiling fans and thermostate and some of the pavers (I did not purchase enough). Matt helped me calculate the additional pavers that I needed. I had a door leading from the garage to the courtyard that was in really bad shape. Matt recommended a replacement door. He picked up the door and door knobs. While installing the door, there was rotted wood. He replaced so the door could e installed. Then painted the door and the replaced wood. He noticed that water may have been collecting in a section of the courtyard and asked if I wanted to have drainage there. He took care of that, as well. They had not laid pavers before. Matt recommended a design, I agreed and the pavers were laid. The only thing that would have been nice, is if the excess concrete was scraped up from laying the pavers. Other than that the experience was good. When he first came out to provide me with an estimate, I mentioned a closet door not being even, and he just took care of that on the spot--at no charge!

Matt called while en route. He and his associate measured the doors and went to home depot for the accessories. When they got back they installed the doors, did the clean up and gave me an estimate on the cost for installing ceramic tile floors.

Called contractor Jan 23rd to request a quote. Followed up same day with an email providing details of work needed along with pictures. Confirmed receipt of email on Jan 27th since I had not yet received a call or email. Was told via text they received email and would contact my tenant early that week. I have not received a response back from the company as of Feb 6th.
