About us
Mautz Security was established by Ed & Annette Mautz in Little Rock, Arkansas in 1984 as the security systems contractor for Sears, Roebuck and Co. From Sears we learned the value of guaranteeing customers their satisfaction. Mautz Security grew rapidly as a result of high customer satisfaction and referrals. In two years we set a production record for Sears in Little Rock and were asked to open another office in Memphis, Tennessee. Mautz Security opened its doors as Sears Security Systems in Memphis on January 2, 1986. We began by specializing in residential burglar and fire alarm systems and in just three years grew to over 2000 customers. We then expanded into video camera surveillance technology, which brought us many small to medium size businesses as customers. Sears eventually made a corporate decision to withdraw from the security systems market, yet today Mautz Security is a growing company solidly positioned as one of the best service and installation companies in the Mid-south. We don't consider our new customers "sales", but long term "clients". We do whatever is in our power to satisfy the security needs of our clients. We offer top quality products, excellent service, the best technicians in the business and competitive pricing. The monitoring and everything is consistent and the equipment has held up. I started with them at least 15 years ago. I pay $25 a month. I don't like their billing. I get a call if the alarm goes off. Overall, Mautz Security is a good company. They will call whoever I ask them to call. If I am not here the police will come out. Overall I don't think you are going to get better.

The security system install went well. I needed it for a rental property. After install there were a few false alarms here and there and certain doors not closing properly according to the tenant (sensors interfered with them) so they wanted the service shut off as it was more of a nuisance for them to have it. There were still six months still left prepaid at the time. I had sent in three cancellations to the company via fax and believed it went through because I stopped receiving calls from the monitoring company.
It comes to find out a get a call from a customer service representative informing me their monitoring services were still effective, and they never received any of the three prior attempts to finalize the cancellation.
Somehow in someway our communications on both ends were crossed. As I spoke with customer service, I relayed to them I had been frequently traveling in and out of the states and I was never told from my workers I received any notices who were checking messages and emails for me in my absence. I believe if they had sent any invoices or notices to the service address, they should have known better. I let the company know prior to work being done that I was not residing or even living in the state and that I had a different mailing address from the billing address.
I reiterated to the representative that it was strange they did not receive any of my cancellation notices (I sent out at least 3 on separate occasions) and I did not get any emails or any voicemails. I debated back and forth about refunding the current month's monitoring fee (only was able to negotiate the late fee) and spent likely an hour explaining my case. It was all in vain.
I was continually reminded that they tried contacting me for six months informing me to fill out and sign a cancellation form if I wanted the services canceled and that was the only way to do so. Wouldn't one think if there is no confirmation for almost six months on end of any sort of reply from the person you are trying to reach by phone and email it surely means they are not receiving any of your notices or voicemails? For a fact, they never even tried sending me their cancellation notice once to my mailing address (they claimed they never had on file it in the first place). Of course, I called them out on it though when a monthly bill did come in recently. So their company is suddenly able to send a billing notice immediately to my mailing address but was not able to do so with a cancellation form during that six month timeframe? It's absolutely ridiculous for me to have to pay for this monthly charge and the whole idea of getting a bill sent so quickly seems a bit shady.
I will never recommend this company to anyone I come in contact with. I know and will tell them it's better off to stay far away from this company for their home monitoring needs.
Eric was a nice guy who was patient and professional. He provided suggestions on what would have been the best option for my situation. He was punctual and executed everything as promised. I would definitely work with this company again.
Kevin was the tech for each of 3 visits. He was always on time, and very helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. He worked diligently, but never made us feel like he was too busy to answer questions.
At one point, we realized that wiring that I had thought was already in place was in fact not. I was certain that would make installation of the motion sensors I wanted impractical and very expensive. Kevin was optimistic, and worked hard to find and splice wires - he had it working within an hour. No extra charge.
