"The consumer has numerous animals living in the home and there were literally puddles of urine on the flooring which caused the floor to be ruined. It was not a manufacturing defect."
The crew hired to lay and refinish wood flooring was subcontracted. I oversaw their work as much as possible; quickly discovered they would cut-out early and return in the middle of the evening (8 pm, onward) to blast music and conduct terribly sub-par work. The salesman was not moved to make any changes. I requested a different crew on round 1 and was told it was impossible to make the switch.
We were in a hotel with our toddlers for an such an extended period of time due to 'do overs' and fixes that we had to accept the job as it was. A couple years later, and permanent reminders of the shoddy work and the company's lack of response, I still feel greatly disappointed.
"The [member name removed]'s had water damage to their house and the hardwood flooring that we previously installed and did not have any issues with got damaged. The [member name removed]'s had to move out of thier house because of the water damage and we had to replace the damaged floors and sand and refinish the rest of the flooring to match. Since the [member name removed]'s we moved out of the house we did work late hours to get the floors done. Once the floors were finished the contractor-not Kisers, came back in to paint. The contractor got paint on the new floors and Kiser's had to come back out to the job and apply new finish again on the floors because of the paint but that was not Kiser's fault. Also it is quoted that the job was $30,000.00 and the bill from Kiser's was only $10,190.14. The whole job might have been $30,000 but Kiser's part was only 1/3 of that quoted. Kiser's was called back to the job in august to look at the floors and we responded in a timely manner and went and looked at the floor approximately 4 days after contact. thank you"
Would definitely use them again.
I had my entire home recarpeted and new floooring installed in my kitchen and hallways in 2008. We bought top of the line and it was very expensive. Their installation crew (none of whom spoke English or had worked for Kiser's before that date) broke several pieces of furniture and damaged walls, doors and floors. Their second crew used a power saw to cut wood INSIDE our house, spreading wood dust and shavings everywhere. They had to install and removed the kitchen floor multiple times because their crew messed that up too, and unbelievably, the management (consisting of the two Kiser brothers), took zero responsibility for what happened. With no other choice, we deducted the out of pocket cost of the damages and paid the very large bill in full. The lifetime warranty we were promised has been ignored (see their website), and as the carpeting is pulling up and getting loose all over the house, we called them to have the carpet restretched (included in warranty). What was their response? GET LOST! Is this an honest way to operate? Today we paid cash to one of their employees to come and do the job to restretch the carpet that, according to their website and our paperwork, was supposed to be under warranty. SHAMEFUL!
UPDATE: The high end super expensive carpeting the Kiser brothers crazy crew installed has pulled up all over the house due to shoddy installation. Kiser's website states they re-stretch carpet at no charge. When we called to tell them our carpet was loose and pulling up everywhere and needed to be adjusted, what did they say? GET LOST! In their words, the free re-stretch applies to OTHER customers, not us (no doubt because of our Angie's List review)! Professional? NO ...Reliable? DEFINITELY NOT!
"There are Too many inaccuracies in the member's statements to address, but to cut to the chase, Kiser's started our lifetime warranty on carpet installations a year and a half after we installed the member's carpeting and I explained that to her in detail. I never once said "Get Lost", but offered a mechanic( who does not work for Kiser's-as she stated) to take care of the repair at a minimal cost. As far as the original installation, Kisers as well as several other trades could not make the member happy and she did not pay her bills in full and we had to threaten court action to get a settlement out of her and it was my understanding after talking to the other trades owners, that she did the same thing with them. We've been in business for over 62 years and have an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau and strive to please All of our customers. Marty Kiser"
"We arrived at the job on the day it was scheduled and proceeded to take up the hardwood. We found water under the flooring and under the cabinets. We had to pull off of the job to let the concrete dry and we notified the insurance companythat the the cabinets and granite tops would have to be removed. It took almost a week for the insurance company to get someone to pull the cabinets. We then came back to the job and finished the installation and then sanded and stained the floors. The following day, some debris had settled into the finish and we went back and took care of that.I called the customer and she told me the floors looked 100% better. It was unfortunate the job took so long but due to unseen circumstances with the water under the floor, there was nothing we could do until the concrete dried out. Mike Kiser, Owner 901 458-8000"
