Joe Jefferson is a gem. He arrived on time with a helper and went about the business at hand. My 30 year old heating system had considerable rust inside and the pilot would not stay lit. He cleaned it out, spotted and corrected an obscure problem with my thermostat (that was costing me higher bills). He noted my heat exchanger had a crack, and although safe to operate in the short term, was going to be due for replacement. He gave me a ballpark estimate on replacing my heating system (less than I expected) and because I had expressed interest in having him do that job, he gave me a price break on this 1 hour 45 minute service call. His rates are competitive, but mostly he's a straight shooter. I trust what he tells me.
I had previously used another HVAC service that has numerous positive reviews here. I was mostly happy with them for years until they started tacking on a $40 charge to hose off my outdoor ac unit on top of the $70 service call charge. I also had the feeling my system was not always getting a thorough check. And that proved to be true as Jefferson found issues that should have been discovered and addressed by my previous service provider.
