Initially, in April 2019, I gave this provider, Mr. Fix It a glowing recommendation. Today, July 2019, my AC isn't functioning. The temperature in my home rose as high as 78 degrees with a heat index of 100-103 outdoors in this Memphis heat. It was a waste of time to contact this provider again because he never returned to complete the cleaning of the unit, which he indicated was included in the service that I paid for. If I have to keep calling (twice) a provider as a reminder to return to complete a service, it's useless. So, I contacted another provider, Conway Services, thinking my issue was related to the unit needing to be cleaned; preventing my home from being cooled. Conway Services reported to my home as an emergency call, because the heat was unbearable. After the service technician assessed the problem, he told me my freon level was extremely low, which indicated that I had a leak. Furthermore, after explaining what repairs was done by the previous provider, Mr. Fix It, I learned that he wasn't forthcoming about the real issues regarding my unit. I explained how Mr. Fix It indicated the frozen ice in my unit represented that I was keeping my thermostat too low, which I keep it on 65 to 68 degrees for health reasons. However, I learned that was not true. Pretty much, everything that Mr. Fix It did to repair my unit masked the real problem, which I needed another HVAC. Conway Services led me to view my inside unit, the ENTIRE coil system was rusted and leaking. This didn't just happen overnight. Mr. Fix It made repairs to my inside unit knowing this had already occurred, because he had to see this in order for him to make repairs (that were not needed). The money I paid to this provider should've been used towards a new HVAC system. Mr. Fix It, took the choice away from me by not communicating the true problem. This is ironic, because he kept asking me if I was being honest with him, when I told him that I was unemployed... I am not an expert in this line of work. But, over the course of three days, I have learned SO much about HVAC from Conway Services. Mr. Fix It blatantly misled me of the true problems regarding my AC unit. I chose this provider on Angie's List because it indicated, "Certified". This was my first experience with Angie's List that proved costly. I couldn't allow this matter to go any further without bringing this to Angie's List attention. Mr. Fix It (Johnathan) should be ashame of himself.
