Tom Hamilton is a rarity. I was forewarned about hiring a contractor and told many horror stories. Tom proved to be the exception. He was honest, punctual, and reliable. The building process lasted about 5 months and we talked almost every week day during the process. He kept me abreast of all developments so that we could address issues together on a timely basis, providing input and suggestions about various aspects of the work but leaving the decision up o me. I am very pleased with my new house and will recommend Tom to anyone who asks.

This job was a 3 1/2 month process.  We felt that it went very smoothly and it was a positive experience.  First, the contract with Hamilton Builders was thorough and itemized upfront.  All adjustments were clear and there were no surprises at the end.  
Second, the craftsmanship was superb.  From the framers to the plumbers and everyone in between, the job was top notch.  In fact, once the drywall was up, we noticed that the window was 3/4 of an inch off center.  By the the next day, Mr Hamilton had that window centered!  
The third thing that sets Hamilton Builders apart from others is punctuality.  The contractors were at the house when Mr. Hamilton said they would be.  Often, they would be there five minutes early!  
Furthermore, the house was worked on every day.  I knew progress was being made every day!  The only quiet days were the days that the town code inspectors were needed.
The fifth thing that sets Hamilton Builders apart is that Mr. Hamilton is on site daily.  If a problem arose, Mr. Hamilton, was there to solve it.  It was also nice to have him to go to when a problem came up.  As the homeowners, we did not want to be the general contractor.
Finally, and most importantly, we trust Hamilton Builders.  We were happy to leave them in our home.  We felt that the people coming and going were great people.  Once, we had to leave town and left a decision completely up to Mr. Hamilton, and we knew it would be the right one - which it was!  We also felt Mr. Hamilton did a good job of keeping the costs down, especially when we added onto the project.  Mr. Hamilton did a superb job and we look forward to doing business with him in the future!

He great we were very pleased with his services. He was prompt, put us in contact with other people that did some of the work. Everyone he recommended was great as well and he supervised everything to ensure we were happy.

Mr. Hamilton and his crew were very professional and excellent to work with. They remodeled my very old kitchen and built a new pantry. There was additional projects that came up as the work was being done, the workmen took care of the problems on the spot.
I have plans for a bathroom remodel in the future and will use Hamilton Builders. I can not say enough about how pleased I am with his service.

Well to start with, we found Tom on AngiesList. He had a few reviews to his business and we thought of talking to him and giving him a try. Throughout the course of the phone conversations with him, he sounded like a very honest and straight-forward person. I had interviewed 5 other builders and even though some of them were also very pleasant to talk to, Tom was definitely our number one choice in proceeding further with especially due to the openness he brought to the table by telling us about his subcontractors and what all he would do for us. I can't stress that enough that he was very open and honest about his communications with us. We are honest people and were wanting a contractor who would not play games or make up things throughout the course. We wanted someone who would tell us the truth and we felt Tom to be that person. And we weren't wrong. Throughout the 6 months that it took to build out house, he was on site every single day working with subcontractors and making sure everything was going smoothly and efficiently. If there was something that was getting delayed, he made sure to stay on top of it and kept it running smoothly so the project would be finished on time. He was also very open to getting suggestions on sub-contractors that we suggested such as kitchen cabinetry, landscaping, flooring etc and was always present when we had the subcontractors come to give us an alternate quote. He would compare his subcontractors with ours and provide us with an honest price difference and quality difference. Now that we are living it, there are some issues that pop up here and there and he is always happy to stop by and provide a fix for it and makes sure it gets taken care of. One quick example - crazy rainfall and our window pops out and falls inward shattering glass all over - Tom was in the area and was at our house in less than 15 minutes. He helped me put whatever was left over of the window back in place, helped clean the glass (not his job but he is just that nice) and ordered a new window sash. Needless to say, we already are and will continue to recommend him to our friends and family who wants contractor services to build or remodel their home. :)

Tom is great!

I could not ask for better... Trash container was available from the start where all scrap material was kept as it was generated from the removal of the old roof. All shrubbery was covered and protected from the removal and installation process. Work required 2 full days...everyone on the job worked diligently and with skilled purpose. Aside from the craft skill they exhibited, they kept the site neat and cleaned up as they went along all the time, When they finished there was no trash...not a scrap of paper in my yard.
I was very well pleased with the completed job. I would call Tom Hamilton back any time for big jobs or little ones..all are important to him...

Mr. Hamilton was recommended to me by a professional friend who is in a related business.

He contacted me very shortly and his bid was in my hand within days. Once the work got started he was either on the job every day or in contact with me by phone. He seemed to have a good rapport with all his subcontractors

I must admit that I am not the easiest person to work with as I tend to change my mind a lot and like to have everything done to my satisfaction. Mr. Hamilton was always kind and went the extra mile to please me. He is a real gentleman! He has my seal of approval.

Having personally known this contractor since college, I was a bit leary of doing business with an aquaintance. In our first introductory meeting, something the contractor said, which resonated with me was, and quot; things may not always go smoothly but we will fix whatever comes upand quot;. I had confidence that was the case so I went with Tom Hamilton with Hamilton Builders as my contractor. The first day of our meeting with the subs, all subs were present, which was not the case with other contractors providing bids. Tom was prepared that day, providing all the subs the architectural plans. They listened as I gave my requests and specifics that I knew about my home.
What I liked about working with Tom was:
1. He was willing to listen. Oftentimes, he was juggling other client issues but he would come around to address my concerns in a timely fashion.
2. He was on site everyday. Even my neighbor noticed his white pick up in my drive at some point everyday
3. He is forthright, honest and a man of character. Many of his subs would indicate that he wanted things done right. You may think, of course they are going to say that b/c he is paying them, but I didn't feel that was the case.
4. He has been faithful to address concerns even after completion of the renovation.
5. He was mindful of the budget and kept me informed of the budget limits.
6. He attempted to keep the worksite as and quot;cleanand quot; as possible as I lived in the home during the renovation
7. He said it would take 5 months and it took 5 months.
Overall I am very pleased. The changes I would make are ones of design on my part.

We had called a number of contractors to complete our project. We had a decent idea of what we wanted to accomplish. We could not find anyone that we felt comfortable enough with to even begin the project all for different reason so we turned to Angie's List for help and found Tom Hamilton and Hamilton Builders. There was a review entered for Hamilton builders that referenced a project very similar to our prospective project. The review of Tom was glowing. We contacted Tom and he was very professional and responsive from the beginning. His estimate was competitive but more importantly he gave us the feeling that he was the type of man that we could count on and trust to complete our project the right way. We were able to walk through and see two of Tom's completed projects, both of which were beautifully done and both of those customers also spoke extremely highly of Tom and his company. After a lot of searching, we had found our contractor.
Tom's knowledge and experience were instrumental in allowing us to finalize our plan and make it workable. His ability to orchestrate the project and manage and coordinate the subcontractors was absolutely top notch. Every cost that Tom estimated and predicted was the cost. There were no hidden costs or charges.
There are a few characteristics of Tom that make him stand out from any other contractor I have ever used or come in contact with. His integrity and honesty are impeccable. When Tom said something would get done it did every time. He managed each of his subcontractors very effectively and efficiently. He told us our project would take 2 months best case 3 if we hit any snags. He finished in 7 weeks. His communication was amazing. He was at the job site every day many times more than once and was never more than a phone call away. He would contact either my wife or I every day with a clear picture of what was happening that day. We texted or emailed often and again Tom's responsiveness was terrific. it helped so much that he was so eager to ensure that not only did we stay on schedule but that each step of the way, we got exactly what we wanted and had hoped for. I cannot say enough about each of subcontractors. They were all terrific in every way, all very good at their trade, and all very comfortable with Tom. Tom's attention to detail was exhibited by each one. Lastly each time we wanted to change something or if we saw something we wanted done another way Tom took care of it. A prior customer in a review said that they were almost sorry to see the project end because it had gone so well and I honestly feel the same way.
To sum it up, Tom Hamilton is an 11 on a scale of 1 - 10. If we ever have another project to complete, and I hope that we do, I will not be looking for a contractor, I will simply be calling Tom Hamilton and Hamilton Builders. Both my wife and I give Tom the highest possible recommendation. If you want your project completed the right way by a man that is honest and completes the job on time for a fair, competitive, and reasonable cost, and is an absolute pleasure to work with, then Tom Hamilton and Hamilton Builders is the only contractor that you need to call.

We did not know Tom before we began our project/addition. He was recommended to us by our architect. We had 4 bids for our project and Tom's bid was very competitive and we chose him for the job. He was very open and professional throughout the whole job - took the time to explain everything to us. He was onsite almost daily; often times several times daily. HIs associates were great and they did outstanding work. We were satisfied with the time line. Tom had explained it to us and he finished on time. The finished product exceeded our expectations and we are so happy with our new addition and remodeling. We are planning another project soon and he will do the work!

It went very well. The main thing is to have a clear idea of what exactly you want. The only surprises came when we changed something midstream that required work to be done out of sequence to when it would have been done.

We considered three contractors for this job. Tom Hamilton's price was middle bid, but he had more experience than the lowest bid. From the start, Tom's approach to this was detailed and responsive. We had some delays, primarily due to the weather, and each time Tom stayed in close contact to resolve the delay.

Tom is one of the most conscientous business people I've worked with. He was on-site at some point almost every day that we had active work going on, inspecting progress and resolving issues. I grew to appreciate over the life of the project that if he said he was going to do something, he did it.

We have now have a building that we are proud of and that our grandchildren have already starting enjoying. I can recommend Hamilton Builders without reservations.

Everything was fantastic; the contractor was the only person done on time; which is very different than anything anybody told us. I will use them again in the future.

Mr. Hamilton was courteous from the start. He checked the job almost daily. All materials were delivered on time. There were no delays except weather. It was the least intrusive renovation project we have experienced.

The roofers came by on a Saturday, and had the roof completed (except for a small overlay section) that evening. They came the next day and cleaned up (and did that small section). I was particularly concerned about clean-up. Tom did a remodeling job for our neighbor, and they did a great job there, including clean-up. They did a good job of clean-up, including using large magnets to get up the nails.
A few weeks later, I asked Tom to replace a gutter over our garage. The subcontractor came a week or so later. They cut the gutter on the spot fo fit (one continuous run); it was the same color as our trim paint. They installed a gutter guard, as we have trees with cedar needles. They installed a larger downspout.

Tom was great. He was very professional and came out promptly at the designated time. He worked with me trying to find the best options for the columns. After we ordered the materials, the base of the column was not what I thought it was and he was able to come up with a good solution to the problem quickly. It looks great and you wouldn't know that it wasn't originally supposed to look the way it does now. He is very thorough and wants to make sure you are happy with the work that is done. I will definitely work with him again.

Our experience was excellent. Actually, it was better than that! All of Tom Hamilton's subcontractors were wonderful. We lived in our house while it was being renovated which is hard. But, during the entire process Tom was FANTASTIC. If I could give him higher marks I would. I would recommend him to anyone and I would absolutely hire him again. He is honest, smart, thorough, kind and very funny. I felt that whenever I called him he listened to me and responded quickly. He is a really great guy and an excellent contractor. I loved working with him and I was actually sorry when the job was over. That says a lot!
