CAREFREE IRRIGATION SERVICE

I have been working with Mr. Brown and Carefree Irrigation for two years. The company is very knowledgable, completes jobs accurately and in time. Will use as long as I own my homw. Latrina Stewart

Carefree does our annual open/close/backflow testing on our irrigation system and and has repaired a leak in our system as well. Over the past 2 years I've worked with this company, twice Mr. Brown, the older gentleman who runs the company, has gone above and beyond expected service. Once, by sending his staff out to assess and repair a leak within an hour of my call (as we were also having plumbers in the house at that time to help figure out whether the mystery leak was inside or outside) and second, and most impressively, when Mr. Brown himself came out on extremely short notice to open our system early at my request, because my landscaper's unexpectedly rescheduled our sodding date and needed to flag the system. He was swamped with work and we were not on the schedule, but he was still kind enough to come out the next day and open the system himself (though he is well past his manual labor days)! Mr. Brown is a kind, personable man who is a pleasure to do business with and runs an organized company with great customer service.

Mr. Brown and his son were very easy to talk with and plan our needs. The staff was prompt and finished our irrigation system on time in bad weather. I definitely encourage anyone who needs an irrigation installation or service to use this business.

I just used Carefree Irrigation services based on recommendations from others. My experience with Carefree unfortunately was not as great as others have mentioned. Carefree came to my house to turn on our irrigation system and perform a backflow test. Speaking with the owner before anyone came over the phone, I asked if they had a summer and winter program and he told me that during the fall, his customers pay for summer and fall services and get a free backflow test. I asked him since we had just moved here from NC if I could go ahead and pay him for summer and winter and receive a free backflow test and he told me no. When I asked why, he said it was because his accounting service was not able to keep track of payments. I felt that this was unfair and concerning that a business was not set up with accurate and complete accounting for payments received, but I agreed to have them turn on our system since others liked them so well. During start up, our backflow valve leaked so the representative told us that he needed to simply replace the gasket and that would resolve the issue. I should have asked right then how much a gasket would cost, but I really didn't expect it to be that much. I asked about making a payment before they left, but was told that I would get a bill in the mail. Got the bill and the gasket replacement alone was $110!! Wow. The total bill was $295! When talking with the owner about the bill, he told me that I am paying a service visit (even though they were already at the house performing a service to turn on the irrigation and do a backflow test) and his overhead and apparently more than $50/hr. I know this falls on me for not asking enough questions and I will of course pay the bill, but I don't plan on using Carefree Irrigation in the future.

The time came for them to show up & the guy showed up at the time I was told. I explained what happened to him & he went to work looking for all the valves. He found the one that was causing the problem & fixed it. He then checked all of them & made sure system was working properly. He explained some things to me that I could repair on my own. He also explained some things with the control panel since it was new to me.

Two days after the repairs Mr. Brown called to make sure I was happy with the service & repairs. He also discussed some of the things with me that the tech went over that I could repair with the heads & system. He was very informative & a pleasure to do business with. I will be using them to do maintenance that I can't and the shut down & start up of the system yearly.

I called because the yard was soggy and neighbor's driveway was soaked. Noticed a sprinkler head bubbling and water pooled at back the yard. Turned system off, still bubbled. Figured I had a problem bigger than I could take care off. Called them and they got me in as quick as they could. Workers got here at 1 and were done by 1:30. Couldn't be happier.

I would rate this company as very average.  The service they provide is adequate - they get the job done.  However, they are extremely poor with communication and followup.  Both the winter and spring services were delayed several weeks, and they didn't even bother to call to give updates or let you know when they would be planning service.  Also, I didn't particularly like the fact that they only contact you the day before they plan on coming to your house.
During my spring startup, one of the workers replaced a small part in my sprinkler system without telling me what he was doing or what the cost of the part would be.  All I got was a bill in the mail a few days later.
I will be looking for a new company next season.

They are extremely professional and prompt.  They also contact you for your bi-annual service so you don't have to keep up with it.

Arrived on time.

Replaced several sprinkler heads.

Certified the backflow valves required for Bartlett Code.

Different time they completely restored a Malibu lighting system that had fallen into dis-repair and was in operative.

Now is fully back to life and operating well.  Neighbors asked for referrals.

Would hire them again without issue.

Great job.  Came by the day after my call and gave me a quote for the work.  Several days later they came by and did the work as agreed upon.  Everything was done quickly and without any inconvenience.  I was billed as quoted.  Will continue to use Carefree in the future. Very satisfied!!

As soon as I called Carefree Irrigation, they were so nice and helpful.  Once we agreed on a price, he started work right away exactly when he said he was going to start.  Even thought it was still cold, they still worked as much as they could.  Once it was installed, they explained in detail all about the system.  Overall, excellent experience.
