Home Warranty, Heating and Air Conditioning Service
After purchasing the home warranty, about a month and a half later, the Central AC unit began leaking water into the house. Contacted American Home Shield - calling in through their #800 number. Held for at least 45 minutes the first time. Called a second time, similar wait time but I just waited until someone answered. I explained that I had been holding for a very very long time, the representative was rude stating they have been very busy. They did contact an AC repair company who took 4 days to return my call. 4 days! Finally I got a call back and the repair company came out the next day. The AC repair company stated they would contact American Home Shield, have them order the parts and that I should follow up with them the next day and approve/confirm that the parts had been ordered. American Home Shield called the same afternoon stating the repair would not be covered under the warranty because someone had forced the clip o the evaporator coil and broke it. Damage from a part being broken by force wasn't covered. I was dumb founded. I don't even know what that part is, where it is located or how you would force it if you wanted to. I tried to explain to the representative on the phone that I didn't do anything to the air conditioning unit and he wanted to argue and not repair the unit stating it is not covered because it was forced. That simply is not true. No one forced the part - I didn't even know where it was, what the problem was or where the part was located. I called American Home Shield and asked to speak to a supervisor and was told
