Mr. Beeler said he runs a crew and it would be a 1-day job. He also said he does a lot of work for insurance companies "fixing other installers' mistakes" and that he warranties his work. He said he has been laying floors for 30 years. Believing him without asking for references, we made plans to meet him at the flooring retailer once the material came in. He would transport it to our home so it could acclimate over the weekend, and, while there, he'd take a look at the job to make sure it was as we described it. He would do the job first thing after the weekend. The flooring retailer let me know Wednesday morning that the material would arrive Thursday by noon. I called Mr. Beeler to let him know, and to arrange a pick-up day, but had to leave a message. He did not return my call - I had to call him back on Thursday. This should have been a tip-off to me that he was unreliable, but I gave him the benefit of the doubt. We agreed he would meet us at the retailer's to pick up the material on Friday afternoon. On Friday afternoon we called him to see when he would be arriving at the retailer's. He didn't answer our calls before closing time and he never returned our messages, leaving us scrambling to make other arrangements to get the flooring from the retailer so we could stay on schedule. Needless to say we did not call Mr. Beeler back, nor did we receive further calls from him. We felt this was extremely unprofessional conduct, especially from someone who made such strong claims about himself.
Description of Work: Amount given is the estimate we were quoted to take up and dispose of carpet and pad for a 270 sf room, install laminate flooring and underlayment, install thresholds, and lay quarter-round with caulk and fill. He would also pick up the flooring material for us.
