We appreciate James. He is extremely knowledgeable, honest and conscientious. He is up front on the work and very reasonable with the cost. We will only use his company to do any plumbing work we need. James went over and above to fix our leaks in our pipes in the wall. He also replaced our water heater and has checked on us to make sure it was still in good working order.

We have used James several times over 10 years and had been very happy with his service, 5 years ago our water heater went out Patryce scheduled for James to come same day , her response was they take care of regular customers first and it was after hours so we did pay extra which was just fine he took care of us , on Nov 20 this year we had a pipe bust under the sink so I called Patryce said they were booked couldn’t come out , I said ok I will pay for after hours emergency service because I needed water she said no sorry we dont have anything available , she said she could get me scheduled for Nov 25 , you would think they could get me in within 5 days for after hours emergency ? so I said fine but in the mean time I will have to call someone out before then to stop water leak, so she said call so and so , I found someone to come out same day got leak stopped , so come Monday Nov 25 , two of James workers came out I pointed out the pipes under the sink I wanted replaced and fixed correctly but they said it looked fine and didnt touch them, my husband told them water heater was running out of hot water , Also in one bathroom cold water coming out slow , so long story short they didnt have the part to fix bathroom water so they cleaned it also said water heater element was fine so they drained water heater so I paid $192 and nothing is still fixed correctly , we also had a broke water spicket that needed fixed and the workers said they would fix it next time they came out instead of doing the job while they were here , so about an hour after the workers left at 1:30 I called the office to schedule for them to come back out to fix the water spicket also install water filter system but all I got was answering machine that said sorry we will be out of the office until Dec 2 , leave message and we will return your call when we get back in the office , so I left a message explaining I need an appt and what I needed done, no one called me back on Monday Dec 2 ,so I called later in the day at 1:52 pm no answer and still no call back as of Dec 10th, the reason I am making this review is I guess the company is doing well now and they can pick and chose , we used them a lot when they were getting started out but I guess I will be using a different company from now on, I do want to make one note that James the owner is an wonder guy and very hard worker , the other workers he has working for him need more training and the office has major problems which will cause him to lose even more business

A very bad experience. I used this company once before, about 18 months ago and was pleased but this time was a nightmare. First, every time I called I got an answering machine and had to wait literally for a day before they called me back. This after I left multiple messages. When they finally responded they sent out a plumber who did $210.00 worth of work without once advising me of what he was doing and what it would cost. He replaced something I didn't ask for any work to be done on! He even said he wasn't sure if he fixed the problem, he was just guessing at the solution. Less than 30 minutes after he left the problem resurfaced. $210.00 wasted! I called them back and had to go through the answering machine drill again. Made an appointment for them to come back out and they never showed up! An hour and a half after the appointment time they called and said they would come on a different day. I advised them to forget, I would hire someone who was professional.

"Unfortunately this is just one side of the service call issue; please allow us to explain.... First, in this service industry it is not possible to know exactly how long a service call can take and if someone is scheduled before your time slot it could effect the exact time our service technician reaches your home; we state that when scheduling before hand and therefore there is always a window on both sides of the time for this and that we will actually call when we are in route (which was done in this case too). Because it was 4:30pm I asked if tomorrow would be better as it was getting late in the day and we wanted to be respectful of their evening. The service call was a NON-emergency matter and could wait if needed. If not I told him we could still come out that evening and he declined.... As for the answering machine issue- Our outgoing message clearly states we are open M-F 9-5 The first time he called was a Saturday and that is why his call was not returned until Mon. morning. Any time during regular hours that you may get an answering machine may be due to being on another line or away from the desk momentarily (which is also stated on the machine). A return call was given as soon as possible. As for the issue about the "serviceman doing $210 worth of work without asking first".... Shame on you for even trying to make that a complaint; The owner of the company himself called you and went over everything with you and explained the reason behind the miscommunication and apologized. At that time you said you understood and were completely fine. So fine that is, that you scheduled for Monday to have the owner himself come out and address the continued problem to get it rectified for you. As stated on the phone when you said you were unhappy and going to move on to another plumber; we apologized for the inconvenience and again for the past misunderstanding. We are upset that you did not allow us to finish out and make things right but respected your decision. *As you can see by all our other ratings here on Angie's List and those not on this site, we have an extremely high rating and long record of very pleased customers. The owner takes much pride in his business and work exhibiting a very strong work ethic. He always goes above and beyond. We hope anyone else reading this will please see that this is the ONLY negative mark and know this is not the norm by any means. Thank you! The Plumbing Company of East TN"

1) They replaced my water heater. It was quick, efficient, and clean. 2) After delaying for months, I called them. They could not find any water or leaks so no service was required. Since my drain pipes are cast iron and the house is over 50 years old, they provided a quote if I wanted to replace them with PVC pipes sometime in the future. There was no pressure to replace them.

James Kleinhans is the owner. I had the kitchen sort of remodeled and he connected the new sink and also put a gas line so that I could have a gas hub. He's always done a very good and professional job. I would use him again.

In all the shower had to be removed, a hole dug in the foundation to repair a faulty drain that was 'jury rigged' by the builder, cutting and repairing the drywall and a new shower unit/sliding door installed. James, the owner and plumber, organized various people to do the job right and in the end we have a much improved master bath. He was a pleasure to work with especially when the problems were totally unexpected. I recommend the Plumbing Company of East Tennessee very highly.

I used them one time already and they were very good and very reasonably priced, but when I called them the second time they didn't get back to me for 3 days. However I understand the owner was on vacation so I guess he asked someone else to take my call. But I couldn't wait so I ended up using another plumber. For the last job the labor was $160. I never met them personally, they worked on a rental that I had and the people said they were very nice and I got the bill and paid it and I've had no problems since then.

It went perfectly. Prior to doing the work, James met me at my house to talk about the project. We were contemplating replacing the electric water heater with a gas or on-demand type of heater. He recommended against it, and instead suggested a larger capacity electric heater. He gave me an explanation for his suggestions, and it made good sense to me.
Once it was time to do the work, James did exactly what he said he would. He cleaned up after himself and didn't leave any sort of a mess. When he finished he showed me what I needed to do to maintain the water heater and the recirc pump. He also told me that if I forget what he said about maintenance to just give him a call and he would walk me through it. I'm sure this will be useful as I've already forgotten some of it.

I would highly recommend this company. They are very prompt, easy to deal with and reasonable. Their people know what they are doing, have the correct equipment to do the job and quite frankly bent over backwards to help me out when I was left high and dry by another provider who did not know the job. I will be keeping their card and they will be my plumbers from now on!!

James did a great job. He was very professional and friendly. I spoke first with his wife Patricia t(who handles the appointments) to have him come to our house and give us an estimate. He came promptly and was knowledgeable about what we wanted done. He obtained the new water heater and faucet, installed both, and removed all the old parts, and instructed us on the correct way to maintain the new water heater. We were very satisfied and would recommend East Tennessee Plumber Co to our family and friends.

The Plumbing Company of E. Tennessee exceeded my expectations in the job they performed. Professional and personable, James, the owner, did the job quickly and with a minimum of disruption all the while explaining what he was doing and even offering some instructions on things I could do myself to save money in the future. I thought the price was more than reasonable and I'll recommend him to any of my neighbors that need a plumber.

He really knows what he is doing. He is very easy to talk to. He is smart enough to explain things. The cost is reasonable and the service is quick. He is very knowledgeable and very responsible. He puts on the little booties when he comes into the house. He is very good. I would use him again in the future.

I called Monday afternoon soon after discovering the broken water pipe. The owner, James, returned my call withing 30 minutes and said he'd be out the next morning at about 10:30am. The next morning he pulled into my driveway at 10:30am and began the task of replacing the broken pipe, testing for leaks, etc. He was finished within one hour. He was very professional and courteous. All companies should be run this way! I will definitely recommend him to neighbors!

It was time for the original toilet of this 45 year old house to go due to a crack which could not be repaired. We had a toiled ordered and needed someone to install it and haul off the old one. I called this company on the recommendation of two friends and was told by the very pleasant lady who answered that James could most likely be out that same day. I left my name and cell number. The lady called two hours later to make sure that I was available. When James showed up he was very professional; courteous; and neat. He switched out the old toilet; installed the new one; cleaned up and was done in an hour's time. I am already planning on using this company again. I would recommend them.
