May 22, 2009 - bought an in-ground pool from The Pool Place June 4, 2009 - signed a contract with Shawn Jones of Jones Woodcrafters to install the pool Subcontractor #1 - Crisp Excavating - no real issues - he did have to jackhammer out a considerable about of rock for an additional $6000 Subcontactor #2 - Jimmy - Jimmy worked for both The Pool Place and Jones Woodcrafters. He installed the pool and did the plumbing. Jimmy ofter showed up with members of his family. A 3 year old managed to leave a bowel movement in our yard. He frequently did not have the proper tools and had to borror toold from us. Jimmy eventually got the pool installed and the plumbing connected after draining the rainwater from the hole several times. Shawn rented a bobcat and brought in the gravel for the concrete deck himself. At some point in this process the PVC pipe from the skimmer to the pump was crushed. This went unnoticed. Subcontractor #3 -- Tyrone the concrete man - poured the concrete without reinforcement and promised to return to cut the expansion joints. He never returned (after several calls we gave up) to do this. Shawn sends his teenage son and his girlfriend to fill the pool and get the wrinkles out of the liner. The pool is filled but the bottom looks like roadmap. The water in the pool promptly drains out to the bottom of the skimmer. Shawn comes and puts some caulk around the light and says he has fixed the leak. We fill the pool and it promptly drains back out. I look down the skimmer and the pipes are clearing broken. Shawn send Jimmy to fix the pipe. He tries several things but nothing works so he removes part of the wooden deck that backs up to the concrete decking and digs a tunnel under the concrete deck to the skimmer. He fixes the broken pipe and we fill the pool again. Again it leaks down to the bottom of the skimmer. Jimmy comes out and digs the tunnel under the concrete again!!. This time he says the screws had come out of the skimmer cover. By this time it is well into October and we are exhausted with the whole pool adventure. We have the pool winterized and close it. This spring we opened and filled the pool and lo and behold - the water leaks out again!!. Frustrated with Shawn, Jimmy and The Pool Place, we pay an additional $335 to have the leaks properly repaired. Due to limited space here, many of our problems with Jones Woodcrafters could not be addressed (retaining wall that is sagging, gate damaged by son on bobcat that was never fixed, used fencing used to replace parts of privacy fence, green water, dead frogs, cigarette butts in my yard. I really do not know how this fellow stays in business. I am 58 years old and have owed this home for 25 yers and this was the worst contracting experience of my life.
Description of Work: In May 2009 we bought an in-ground pool from The Pool Place. The Pool Place sent Shawn Jones out to do the final estimate and install the pool. Shawn sub-contracted the excavation, electrical, concrete and plumbing work.
