He was very prompt, professional. He cleaned up after himself everyday. They give me heads up if their sub-contractor will be coming to the house. They always update budget and always inform when we are going over budget and ask for my permission.

The job was actually done a year ago, so we are late in posting this review. However, it most meaningful that we continue to be extremely pleased, a year later. This project was the second large renovation project we’ve done. We found ourselves needing to find another contractor, since the contractor from our previous renovation had retired. We searched through Angie’s List and found C&L. Their references were excellent, so we chose them. The project started on time and ran on schedule. Ryan, foreman, was extremely professional and sensitive to our needs and inconveniences. We cannot say enough about how smoothly this went and how satisfied we are, one year later. We would definitely use this company again.

It was far worse then expected and they fixed it anyway and gave us a payment plan.

I was trying to build a house with them. We’re trying to start up another relationship now. I think the labor alone was $3,000. They are very thorough and they’re very reliable. The work took maybe 3 days.

As a disable US Vet, they made it accessible for me.  They were very professional, and personable.  They cutomized it for wheelchair doorways, ramps, bench showers, etc.  I would recommend them to anyone.

C & L Construction was impressive in the way they handled this job. For starters, they began the work when they said they would and stayed with it until the it was finished. There were no delays due to scheduling problems or other jobs taking precedence. Equally impressive were the work ethics of the crew. They were conscientious, punctual, aggressive, and knowledgeable. Rob and Phil work tirelessly to see that the job moved forward smoothly. This company is highly recommended because of their performance and value.

They did kitchen wall modification (removal and finishing) included the kitchen cabinet removal and rearrangement. Also they removed the ceramic tiles on the kitchen floor and replaced with the wood floor. They are very professional, kind, and detail. They started and completed the project on time as proposed schedule. The communication was very good. Phil (owner of Company) checked and discussed with me daily basis (morning time) for the project progress. They did excellent works. My wife and I are very happy for what they are done. I definitely recommend this Company to my friends. I appreciate Phil and his crew for excellent jobs (A+).

I would, and have, highly recommended Phil for remodeling.  My wife had general ideas of what she was looking for, and Phil created unbelievable results.  He built a barn door out of old barn wood.  It looked and worked amazing.  The bathroom had only one sink, we wanted two.  He was able to match the cabinetry perfectly and with a new granite top the end product was beyond what we had expected. 
My wife was totally comfortable with Phil's team in the house with her.  We gave them a key to the house while we were gone on vacation.  I have the utmost respect and trust in Phil and his partners.

The contractor helped with professional advice, conceptualization, and design decisions from beginning to end.   The contractor or his foreman supervised sub-contractors and his crew daily.  The work was performed professionally and courteously and within the expected time frame.   The crew arrived punctually every day and worked late when required.  They returned promptly to fix any issues with materials or installation.  We were very pleased with the work done and definitely plan to hire this contractor to do more remodeling in the future.

If you are looking for a great contractor you have found him. This is my first time doing a remodel, but it went very smoothly. The quote came in at a reasonable price. I interviewed about 7 or 8 contractors before finding Phil. Phil has a good sense of design and made some good suggestions. All the little hiccups that happened Phil took care of. All of the subcontractors were people who I was comfortable having in my home. They were polite, did not reek of smoke, did not play loud music,and were dog friendly, I plan on using C&L construction again when I remodel my kitchen.

I also recommended C&L construction to my neighbor who used them for her bathroom remodel. My neighbor has done many remodels and said they would definitely use Phil again. They would not say that about most of the other contractors they have used.

Phil Clendenin was professional in his work.  He came to my house and we discussed what we wanted in our kitchen remodel.  He made measurements and provided information and suggestions on what we can change and some limitations. His expertise in remodeling was helpful with our specific questions about relocating our stove and placement of a new faucet that would need a new drain installed. Later he provided a diagram showing the new layout.  I requested a change to one of the cabinet sizes and he made the modification and emailed the updated version to me.  The diagram was in a pdf document that I can take to get estimates on the remodel.
A few months earlier, he also came out to my house and gave me an estimate on repairing a sill beam that is damaged. We later had an evaluation by an engineer/inspector and decided on an alternate method of repairing the damage.  Even though we did not move ahead with that repair, I appreciated Phil's willingness to come and provide the estimate on this small repair.

Overall very well. A couple of problems where the walls in lounge and ceiling in bedroom were damaged, but totally repaired and repainted at their cost. It took a little longer than we expected, but the guys were always very polite and professional, and cleaned up each day. We were not disturbed In the rest of the house. Phil was was easy to work with and helpful with choices and ideas. I completely trusted them in my house to enter and lock up whenever we were not there. The bathroom turned out beautiful, with free standing tub, floor to ceiling tiled shower, granite counter on double vanity, wainscoting, all new fittings, pot lights/fans and chandelier. The tiled floor turned out really well too. Although we spent more than originally planned, most of the extra costs were due to the choices we made, only a few extra costs were due to alterations in design once the original bathroom had been removed and original piping exposed. Their price was very competitive against other companies who had quoted for us. I would definitely use them again on future projects.

This was a refreshing experience. They answer the phone. They show up when they say they will. They don't nag for payment before the work is complete. They don't leave a mess. They didn't steal any of my tools. They didn't send any unsavory people out to my house. And one more thing: They do good work. Highly recommend.

Phil Clendenin is the contractor. He had done some work for us before on a bathroom remodel. Everything went absolutely great. He has expanded his business and diluted the quality by doing that.

As you can imagine, coordinating a job of this scale involving numerous contractors could have been a nightmare, but Phil and Rob did a wonderful job of getting everything done on schedule. I was especially impressed by their meticulous attention to detail and getting things done right. They were easy to work with and accommodated a few last minute changes in plan without any hassle. The workers they used were pleasant, did a good job, and cleaned up after themselves. The results were all that we had hoped for. A very good experience and I would definitely use them again.

Originally contracted to remodel a 1950's pink tiled full bathroom with a new larger tub, tile surround and a pedestal sink, the scope of work quickly turned into an full gut job with C&L removing and replacing everything but the drywall ceiling and original tile floor. With just one exception, all of the changes to the original scope of work were made as a result of design modifications we made early on during the demo phase.  The one exception was made as a result of a suggestion made by C&L to double up on the floor joist directly under the tub.  Both the original and replacement tubs were 60" in length, but the new tub was 24" wider. This changed the center of gravity to a point just above where the original 1950's plumbers had cut out portions of the floor joists below the tub.  We were very pleased with their bringing this possible structural issue to our attention and with the minimal adder charged for fixing it.  When the plumbers ran into a roadblock trying to rotate a 60" tub into place in a 60-1/4" wide room, they called Phil Clendenin for help. Phil dropped what he was doing on another job and came right over.  Within just a few minutes of arriving, he quickly solved the  problem by temporarily removing a single wall stud. That may not sound like much of a problem and in reality it wasn't but it was impressive to watch him examine, analyze and solve this problem so quickly.  Partner Rob Lockwood was just as impressive with his broad construction related skillset and pleasant, easy gong personality.    

Both Rob and Phil were great to work with and did an admirable job of managing their employees, sub-contractors and the job itself.  All this despite the fact that we were constantly changing the scope of work.  Would we recommend C&L to others? You bet!  With so many companies trying to earn your business these days and just a select few that actually give you your money's worth and more at the end of the day, we could not have been more pleased to have found and worked with them.

They explained the procedures.  Showed up when they said and accomplished the work to my great satisfaction.
