My wife and I entered the store to browse and a lady came up and said she would have to take my wife's purse before we could look around. My wife refused to give her the purse and the "lady" told us it was our choice to either leave the purse at the door or to leave. Of course we opted for the latter and left. I've gone to antique stores in Tennessee, all over the south, west coast, Canada and Australia and I have never seen one that required ladies to check their purse at the door. They have a detector at the door and a monitoring system yet they are still so paranoid as to suspect everyone who enters with a purse to be a potential shoplifter. I can't say we were profiled, we are 60ish and were dressed in out Sunday best. I can't imagine any woman being comfortable leaving her purse with store employees whether in a lock box or not. Its just not necessary to insult potential customers that way. This is a very condescending policy and no one should support a business that treats customers that way.
