They did diagnostics and said that my head gasket was bad and it would cost $1500 dollars for the repairs it needed. That was qute a lot more than I could afford to spend, especially on an older car. I took it to two other auto shops and both of them said it was the intake manifold gasket that was leaking which is a much less expensive repair. I got the work done for $400 dollars and have had no further problems with my car.

I am writing to speak out against Mac's Auto Care, in Madisonville, TN. During a recent appointment for a simple front end alignment, Aaron, one of their mechanics, broke a tie rod on my girlfriend's truck. That is no big deal in and of itself. However, Mac's tried to charge my girlfriend for parts and labor to fix the tie rod that they snapped. If you break something that does not belong to you, that it only seems right that you should pay for it. But to charge for the part and than charge labor to put it back on that which should be covered in the alignment fee is criminal. When I confronted Aaron and the owner about the problem, both they and their secretary were rude and sarcastic. They finally gave me the option of either paying for the part they broke, plus the labor of putting it on, or to have the truck towed out with the old broken parts put back on. I chose the latter option. I think everybody should be warned about the crooked and vandal dealings of Mac's Auto Care.

While returning from a trip to Pigeon Forge our church bus broke down just south of Madisonville TN. We made a call to a referral service and they gave us the name and phone number of Mac's Auto Care. They responded with tools and belt in a reasonable amount of time. They made the repair as needed and we were on our way.

I originally took vehicle for diagnostic on A/C as it was blowing hot air. They ran diagnostic on compressor, fan motor and injected dye to check for leak in the line. There was no leak but system needed 'vacuuming' and recharging with freon. Told me to return in a week so they could check everything was ok...follow up check was done at no charge. At follow up I requested check as engine light was on and engine wasn't running right...found the problem with the wires for fuel injector and the manifold set. They informed me at every step what diagnostics had found and gave me an accurate estimate without pressuring me to let them do the work. They are knowledgeable, professional, well trained, honest, and efficient. They stand behind their work and I intend to use them again if I need a repair or tune up.

We dealt with Mac's Auto mostly long-distance. Our car was hit by another driver (hit the front driver-side wheel) and Mac's Auto worked with us to get the car driveable so we could take the car home (to Chattanooga). They were honest and upfront about what needed to be fixed in order to get the car in driving repair, and what that would cost. It would have been easy to pull the wool over our eyes and overcharge us, especially since we were dealing with them mostly over the phone, but they were straightforward about what was actually a necessary fix, and what would be a "nice to have" or cosmetic fix. They were extremely reasonable about price as well. (Our insurance estimated the damage to be over $2400, including cosmetic, and they fixed everything but the cosmetic --which was a new bumper, basically--for $700.) A very positive experience. We would work with them again if our car was ever stuck in Madisonville!
