1) Foundation plumbing - they missed the mark on several pipes. We had to change the house plan otherwise the drain would have been in the door way. "dead pipes" were created in other areas. 2) The plumbing for the kitchen sink was installed in the wrong area and had to be re-done. 3) 2 weeks after we moved in, we had a sewer back-up. They responded, threw warm water down the drain and snaked the lower level toilet. 4) 2 weeks later we had another sewer back up. They responded, threw warm water down the drain and snaked the lower level toilet. We had to call Service Master to evaluate the damage and restoration needed after this back up. We contacted another plumbing company to evaluate the septic system. They ran a scope down and did not find a problem on with the outside pipe and septic system. They offered to scope the sewer line inside the house. 45ft into the house the found a metal tape measure (50.5 inches long) in the sewer system. They offered to remove it that day, but we were under warranty with A1 Plumbing and declined. It took A1 Plumbing 4 months to find, diagnose and fix the problem. They never apologized or offered an explanation for how or why a metal tape measure was in our sewer line. 5) The shower jets were not installed correctly. They literally pulled away from the wall and we had water running down behind the shower wall. We paid for another plumber to fix the shower jets. 6) The new lower level toilet was scratched from all the snaking.

Toilets are fixed and not leaking anymore. Price was a little high in my estimation.

Everything was great. They were really busy and the tech that was supposed to come wasn't able due to being at a job that was taking longer than normal. Marty, the owner, came out and apologized and had everything fixed in about 45 mins. Would recommend to anyone!

We have had problems with plumbing for weeks. We used another company the first couple of times, but were unhappy with the results and we thought their prices were outrageous. The problem was in the main line between the house and the septic tank. We had decided to just do it ourselves, which turned out to be a lot harder than we expected it to be. After we dug up the entire line from the clean out to the septic tank and had no energy left and since the problem wasn't obvious (no crushed or cracked line), we decided to find a plumber.
I looked on Angieslist and the only local one was A1 Plumbing. They had a good review, so we gave them a call. Kale arrived about an hour and a half later, and had the problem fixed within 30 minutes...on a Saturday! He was nice, funny, and very professional.
I don't really know much about plumbing prices. I know the other company we used first quoted us double on a weekday during work hours what A1 did on a weekend in overtime hours, so I'd say that's pretty good.
I would definitely recommend and we will call A1 again for any plumbing issues in the future.

The men who came to my home were very kind and treated me and my home very well. During the estimate they even adjusted the chain on one toilet, which I thought might need replacement or repairs, certainly saving me money. They completed an estimate and were scheduled to come back to complete the work, which they did. The job was completed in a very timely manner. The issues I had with this company came to light after the work was completed and one man had to come back a couple of times. When replacing parts of the toilet in my children's bathroom, they also felt that the sink faucet in that bathroom was loose, possibly leaking water, and needed to be tightened. They went ahead and tightened it (they did not charge me for this) and mentioned it offhand as they were leaving. We realized that night that they had tightened it so much that neither of my children nor I could physically move the faucet to turn it on. My husband had to turn the faucet off and on for my children until the service provider could find time to come back in the next couple of days to fix it. Then the shower they fixed was suddenly running only lukewarm water. They also came back and fixed that. Finally, the bathroom faucet they fixed began running only a trickle of water, which spewed out sideways when my husband turned it on, making the faucet unusable. When I called to have that fixed, I was given a time several days out that they could stop back by, and it was suggested that we use another faucet, which is not necessarily easy when 4 people are all getting ready at the same time in the morning. I felt this was too long to wait for something I had paid to fix, so they came a little earlier to adjust it than they thought they could, but only because I insisted. While the work was performed promptly and at good cost, I felt there were too many things that needed to be readjusted, and I felt I was inconveniencing them by asking them to come back and make things right (at one point the woman I spoke with on the phone let me know that the plumber would be late to a relative child's birthday party because he was taking time to come back and fix the bathroom faucet so that my children could physically turn it on; having never even asked him to fix that faucet, I thought it was inappropriate to be made to feel as though I was inconveniencing him).

We discovered that our water heater was not working late on a Wednesday night. I called A1 the next morning Thursday) after finding them as one of only a couple Rinnai specialists in Knoxville, and having excellent ratings on Angie's List. Was able to immediately speak to owner Marty, even though he and Jennifer were headed out of town that day. Without prompting on my part, or knowing if I'd be hiring A1, Marty took about 10 minutes on the phone talking me through some diagnostic checks and possible fixes. This is very atypical but much appreciated excellent customer service.
Marty determined that our problem would require a service call and despite him going out of town, committed to have his brother stop by later that very same day even though we hadn't been on their schedule. He also committed to bring out a variety of Rinnai parts from spares they had on hand, even though Rinnai's practice is to ship warranty parts out only on an as-needed basis. Nice gesture on Marty's part to try to get us our hot water back as soon as possible.
Brother Nathaniel did then follow through as promised and stopped by mid-afternoon. He spent at least an hour diagnosing our water heater problem including half that on the phone with Rinnai tech support to most efficiently pinpoint the issue. Also volunteered info to me on how to flush the water heater myself (yearly) rather than telling me I needed to call them to do so. He determined that we needed a new electronic controller which needed to be sent out by Rinnai, and placed the rush order that afternoon.
Over the weekend, Nathaniel checked on the part arrival from FedEx, but it did not arrive until Monday morning. This was New Years Eve day and A1 had a big new home piping job all day, but Marty freed Nathaniel up to get to our home that afternoon to finish the repair. He did so in about an hour's time and obviously knew what he was doing despite the fact that these units are not yet that widely used. Their Rinnai certification training was apparent in their work.
That all said, we would have paid almost anything at this point to have hot water back after 4 days but the bill was an extremely reasonable charge of only a couple hours labor. I could hardly believe getting this level of service at such a low cost --- even though our job was squeezed oin around travel and a major holiday! Truly above-and-beyond service, Definitely A-1!!!

He arrived in the scheduled time, assessed the damage (the unit overheated and threw the safety switch, but not before filling the cabinet with electrical smoke from melting wires near the unit) and my description that it had been very noisy/vibrating since we moved in the month before. He called the home warranty company himself to give them his assessment, got permission to replace the unit, and even went fixed the wiring that the overheated disposal had begun to melt, causing the smoke. The new disposal works great, and I have no problems with the work. Very professional and knew his stuff. The work was done very quickly.
I can't assess the cost because with my home warranty service, all I had to pay was the $60 service call charge.

My kitchen sink stopped draining during a large dinner. Husband and Son-In-Law worked until almost 10:00pm trying everything they knew to get it to clear. They both know a lot about regular plumbing but this was over their head. I called and they said they'd come between 1:00 and 2:00, and at 1:15, my door bell rang. They accessed the situation, quoted a price for the entire job, had us sign to give permission to go ahead. They worked HARD, using 74 feet of a 75 foot auger (sp) and finally, the drain was clearing perfectly. They cleaned up ALL of their supplies, and left no messes behind for us to deal with. The price was reasonable, the work was fantastic, the drain is running happily, and I would CERTAINLY call this company again if I needed any type of plumbing, and I will recommend them to anyone who needs a good, reliable plumber.

He was pretty good. The service was good. The price was very reasonable. I didn't go out shopping. He was real responsive to follow up needs and calls, which he did to get something right. He didn't charge any extra for that. I feel good about calling him again and recommending him.

Everything turned out perfect. We have had no problems whatsoever with any of the plumbing in our new home. We met with the plumber after the home was completed. He was a very friendly man. He really wanted us to know that we could contact him right away if we ever have any plumbing needs. We are not exactly sure of the price for their services. It was all paid to the main contractor in one full bill.

It only took them half an hour to replace both of the water lines going to our washing machine. Both of the new lines are nice and no longer leak or anything. The plumber who put them in was a really nice guy too.

I was not 100% satisfied. I d say maybe 80% satisfied. The got the job done in a timely manner and everything. The workers were nice. The problem is with all the sinks. You have to be sure not to get a lot of water around the base of the faucet. There is a problem with the seal on the sinks. If you get a lot of water by the base the water gets into the cabinet below. There is also a loud noise from the water heater every time that you start using hot water. I called both the contractor and Al Plumbing many times with no results. I have given up on it. The cost of their services was included in my contractor s price.

I have had many companies in and out of here at this time and they all seemed to do rather well. I would say that this company did a good job. I did have two other plumbing companies in here and I would have to say that A1 ran right in the middle of them both. I have had good and bad experience so I would say that they are rather good. The price was all included in the building do the $250,000 home.

We had lag time in the start date of the job. They told us that it had to do with sub contractors. Otherwise, A1 Plumbing did a great job and kept us up to date on what was going on.
