A friend of mine who was very happy with their work recommended G&B Carpentry to me. I called on the weekend and had Lamar out on Monday for an estimate. He was very knowledgeable and professional. The estimate was detailed, and the prices were fair. The work began that same week with demolition and new drywall being installed. The work was well done and detailed. The project manager and I had excellent communication, and he kept me informed about the work that was being done. I had a couple areas where I requested some additional work to be done, and they were accommodating to my request. Everything was finished on time and with high-caliber work. I feel like G&B really worked with me as well as for me in the completion of my project. I am very pleased with all aspects of their work and excellent followup to ensure satisfaction. I would highly recommend them and will use them again for any future projects.

Not good, they did not cut sub-floor properly, left a gaping hole at one corner and now floor dips in there. I had to caulk to cover part of that hole. They didn't replace trim that they took off the wall behind the toilet, didn't trim around tub as asked, they only did trim down side wall after I asked, they weren't going to, and I had to nail it in place as they only tacked it in one place. The installer was clearly drinking and reeked of alcohol. Not a good experience. I ended up redoing a lot of it myself, including all trim and caulk. Would not recommend to anyone.

The company always did a great job. No job seems too small for them.

G&B Carpentry has done several projects for me at commercial warehouse and office space. I have been very happy with the work and the pricing and some of the ideas they have come up with to improve the property.

This company left our home a collapse hazard and put our lives in danger!!! BEWARE. never completed. I filed a complaint with the TN State Contractors Board and they placed a lien on my home the day they got word of my complaint. The work they did was poor and they refused to correct issues and dismissed our complaints. They used an unlicensed plumber and we ended up with sewage in our crawlspace for 4 weeks before they even fixed the pipe that came loose!!!!!! They made promises they never kept and charged us more for things we’d already paid for after we removed add-on items that were never completed. They wouldn’t be transparent and show us receipts on said additional charges. They do not handle their business well. Also just know that they have a monetary limit of $25,000 for their projects. If they try to do a project over that report them!! I know they'll reply with how beautiful their work was and consumers should know they stand by the quality shown in these pictures. Not what we paid for. Our response: This has nothing to do with refinancing and everything to do with the poor quality of work done on our project. Stop using excuses and lies to try to illegitimize our reviews. I hope everyone sees the pics I posted and the fact that this company is telling us to pay our final bill even with the poor quality work shown. They do NOT take accountability for this work. Go look at negative reviews on other sites and you will see a pattern. They bully their customers into paying for things that they are unhappy with by threatening to place a lien on their home. I was referred by a previous customer, who is now sorry he referred me. Let's talk about your rights to place a lien. Taken straight from the TN State Board of Contractor’s website: "TCA 62-6-103: A contractor exceeding their limit ($25,000) does not have the right to file a lien”. “It is unlawful for an “unlicensed” contractor to file a lien”. “If they give you more than one contract or several “invoices”, this is often a red flag that they are trying to skirt the law to perform work over their monetary limit”. (We received 2 invoices) Further, “Law prohibits requiring more than 1/3 down payment”. Your company requires 1/2 down. Wish I had found this website sooner! Check for disciplinary actions by emailing: [email protected] That’s at least 2 laws that you’ve broken that I’ve found in all this ridiculous time I’m spending on the internet. Angie’s list should honestly be ashamed for allowing you to use their website as your primary way to drum up business and providing you with all your “Awards". So no, I’m not just paying my final payment. I won’t be bullied into paying for something that wasn’t completed and is of such poor quality. **Update: I had to have the entire “beautiful” bathroom re-tiled due to no moisture barrier used over PLAIN sheetrock in the shower. My floor joists were notched/cut to make room for the shower pan causing my tile to crack and pull from the ceiling (this company claims this was “pre-existing”). A structural engineer deemed my structure a collapse hazard. You can see my floor joists were already cracking. I had to have the plumbing redone. The brickwork they did to close a larger window was incorrect as well. So many issues and more money and time wasted.

I have been extremely satisfied with this company. The supervisor is outstanding. He is honest, prompt and a good communicator. In 2017 they did some major repair work by replacing replacing wood in the eaves and paneling on the second floor of my house which is wood outside and was built in the early 1970s. They also painted the entire outside of the house. Since then I have used them for home improvements such as bathroom remodeling, replacing a window and wood frame, putting in a drain in the back yard and work in the kitchen replacing stove hood. The work is first class, the crew is courteous and efficient. They do a lot of different types of work on a house and I am very fortunate to have found them and would highly recommend them to you.

Awful! This company will go out of business! They screwed up a lot of people's projects! G&B charged the full amount to install the doors but did not finish the job after 10+ weeks. They stated they were waiting on "skilled workers" to finish the remaining work. Think again before you hire them. The company is being sued by so many suppliers in so many counties. You will have to hire a new crew to clean up their mess.

They are very professional and courteous, and they do great work. They were very careful. They take pride in their work. They cleaned up with excellence after themselves. Owner took a personal interest in the job. Great follow up. I would highly recommend them to anyone!!

Very happy, on time, good craftsmanship and he even helped me with my fence. He helped me with multiple projects and was very proactive. He saved me time and energy by going above and beyond. I had 8 shutters with 5 bolts in each shutter that needed to be replaced. He replaced all 40 bolts , he painted the bolts, and fixed my fence. He also has good communication skills, personable, genuine, and he wants to know that your happy with what he did.

We are very happy with the work and service G&B Carpentry did on our home. They were able to bring our ideas for the addition to the garage and a custom bookshelf to life.

The experience was horrible with the exception of the window installation crew. The brick molding repair was substandard and we will have to pay to have it redone. The materials used was scrap lumber. The repair crew was inexperienced at best.

Everything went amazing. Lamar and his team did amazing work and were quick about it. They communicated very well in fact I had 2 different people call me about the same thing to make sure everything was correct since I wasn't able to be there for the project because of work. They went above and beyond with everything I asked and had no problem when I wanted to change a few things in the middle of the project. They painted more than what I asked and even replaced a broken piece of trim that had nothing to do with the job just so it would look better. If you're wondering who to hire look no further because this is the team you need and want.

I am a repeat customer of G&B which in itself should say a lot. I have used G&B for drywall repairs, installing crown molding, wainscoting and painting. Without fail, the estimator comes at the appointed time, crews show up when scheduled, take time to protect furniture and other areas, perform the work and clean up before they leave. I recommend this company and will use them in the future. It is refreshing to find a company that takes pride in their work!

Workers and the G&B team showed up on time and completed the work very quickly. The quality of the work was very good as well. Highly recommend and will use again if I have other projects in the future.

When G & B Carpentry drew up the initial contract information, they did not include staining, which we had specially asked for since my husband and I are seniors and don't need to be doing ladders, etc. I take responsibility for not noticing this, but we had to get them to add this, unfortunately, at an additional $1200. I already felt that we were overpaying, but I had searched for someone build a pergola, and I had only found but three others who did not want to do something this small (10' by 10'). We had to get everything approved by our HOA and when we were given the OK, we had to wait about 3 weeks to start, due to G & B not being able to get supplies. We requested that they saw and stain everything off-site because we live in a townhouse and we have no room to be doing that at our home. On the day of building, G & B was late, we had to call...they showed up with boards and planks and such, boards, etc. barely cut, not stained...and a saw. They did not follow the specifications we have given them, but because we were having so much trouble getting anything done, we accepted the outcome from that day. I had to ask one of the builders to move two of the planks for overhead because they were not spaced properly. We lost half of a bush because one of the workers apparently stepped right in the middle of it. Again, we had to wait almost 2 weeks for them to come out and stain, due to the rain we had during that period. When the day came for them to stain, the project manager called and said his crew of two were at Lowes trying to get the stain. They could not find it (I did not realize I had actually purchased the kind we wanted from Walmart for an earlier project.) But, this was the day of...they should have had the materials all ready to go straight to work that morning. Anyway, I drove to Lowes, met them and told them that I would go to Walmart and get the stain. They had been told by G & B to only get one gallon. I would have to travel to a Walmart farther down the road into another county to get more because, as they worked, we all realized 1 gallon would not be enough. Furthermore, we had to call and ask why the crew was still not in place to do the staining that morning since I beat them getting back to our house. The finished pergola is not bad, not what we asked for, but I am learning to like it more everyday. I am just so frustrated it was so hard to get it done!
