TRANSMISSION WORLD

I argued with him for several days, spoke to my attorney (a friend) and finally  after a lot of threats and ugly words, Transmission World repaired the transmission for $2200 (the same price as the estimate at the other facility).  Since I had the transmission repaired there, the charge for estimate was dropped. 
I felt like such a sucker.  It was a very bad experience.  Maybe he felt he could intimidate me since I'm female and not very knowledgeable about mechanical issues with cars. 
I felt that taking the transmission apart so that someone would be forced to have it repaired there or pay over $400 for the estimate was a crappy way to do business.  When I agreed to have them do the estimate, there was no discussion of taking the transmission apart or any charge for the estimate.  The owner told me that when I signed the paper for the estimate, I was authorizing them to dismantle the transmission.  I specifically ask the man working at Transmission World about this (not the Owner) when I took the vehicle in.  He assured me there would be no charges unless I had my car repaired there.  Because of this, the Owner did eventually agree to repair the vehicle for $2200 (not $2700). 
In all fairness, they did a good job on the repair and I have had no problems with the rebuilt transmission.  It took them about a week to finish the repair.

My automatic transmission went out abruptly and I had the car towed to the dealer.  Their price was really high and they
found another problem for another 850 dollars.
I sought phone bids from a few others and settled on Transmission World.
I got the wrecker to tow the car to the business location.  They furnish that free but I did not know that at the time.
I left my car for about a week and they fixed it.  I picked it up and drove it.  I heard some extra rattles I did not
remember from before the work was done and I took it back for them to recheck.  They did and found the
transmission and other work were fine.  Also I noted the airbag alert light was on when I picked up the car.
The end result was I had to take the car to the dealer to get the computer to check why the light was on.
The steering column had a connection which was disconnected during the repair and did  not reset.  I had to get the
dealer to reset it which cost almost nothing but there was a $90 dollar minimum service call fee.  I paid that
and Transmission World reimbursed me for the cost to reset the airbag alert light.
My car has been driving really well with the new work done.
I am pleased with the work.  I was treated with respect and consideration, and I felt I was treated fairly.
There was never any negativity in any of the interactions I had with any of the employees.
I recommend them for your transmission work.

Too much money for what was done. Bottom line is he knew what he was going to have in it time wise and parts. He should have told me (about ) what it would cost.

It was the first time I had used them. They did exactly what they said they would do.

I took them four days to do a basic rebuild on this transmission. When I did get it back, the transmission slips out of gear. I took the car back to show them. They told me it needs to be broken in a little bit.

Good. They answered the phone even after hours. Paid for me a free rental while my truck was there. They kept me up to date on the status of it, what my options were, and explained themselves well throughout the work without treating me like most places treat women. My truck was repaired with a new trany and master cylinder in three days. I got a nationwide one year warranty, and they did a follow up check a month later. The warranty didn't begin until I brought it back for the check up so I got the most out of it. They are good people.
