Rocky Tops Marble & Granite Inc
About us
Rocky Tops Marble & Granite was established in 1998. Starting in a small warehouse with only one employee, we produced and installed cultured marble vanities. We quickly became Knoxville’s largest cultured marble company and moved into a 7000 sqft facility. Our product line included not only vanity tops, but custom showers, whirlpool bathtubs and a variety of other items. We entered the natural stone business basically at the request of our builder customers. They wanted us to handle all of their countertop needs. Again, after starting small and learning from the best, we have grown into the largest natural stone company in the area. Our showroom and production facilities occupy approximately 25,000 sqft.

We built a custom home in 2014 using a prime contractor and 75+ subcontractors and suppliers. Of ALL of them, we rank Rocky Tops #1. They not only saved us more than $3,000 over our builder's normal granite subcontractor, but the experience, customer service, and end result were first class in every way. Frank Walker was our salesmen and also did the templating for our counter tops which turned out exceptional. He was able to get a large kitchen and island done using just 2 slabs so we didn't have the expense of a 3rd. Additionally, he laid everything out so there were only a couple small seams that couldn't even be noticed unless you looked for them. We used full granite slabs in the kitchen, laundry room, master bath, and basement bar, and selected beautiful remnant pieces for the other baths and hearth which saved on $$$. Our granite is beautifully done and some of our favorite selections in the home. We were so pleased with Rocky Tops work on our counter tops that we used them again a year later to create two custom table tops which also turned out fabulous.
Make sure you understand TOTAL square foot pricing when shopping around. Originally we worked with our builder's granite supplier targeting a per square foot budget only to find out at the end of the selection and quoting process that they added extra for every faucet hole cut out, every sink cut out, every inch of backsplash, etc. Rocky Tops includes all that in their per square foot price so no surprises.
The technician came to our house had a lot of knowledge about granite counter top. He took time and take care of our counter top.
Thank you so much.
"Thank you for your kind words."
The men who installed the shower were fabulous- very nice and did an oustanding job.
We had a custom vanity made so the quartz countertop was installed later. They sent 2 men to install the countertop. The first thing one of the men did when he got out of the truck was to reach back in and start to light up a cigarette. I told him that I didn't want him smoking while he was on my property. He said he wasn't going to smoke in the house and I told him I didn't care- no smoking on my property. He started to argue with me about it. He has a sour attitude to begin with and it got worse when we finished that "discussion". They did a great job installing the countertop.
I then called the owner of the company and told him everything that has transpired. He told me that customer service was of utmost importance to them and that he would talk to his employees and get back to me. It has been 2 months and I still haven't heard anything back from him.
Although their workmanship was great, I would never do business with them again and wouldn't recommend them either. Just not worth it. Evidently customer service isn't that important to them, but it is to me and I won't do business with a company who doesn't care enough to deal with customers concerns.
I should have contacted Rocky Tops to inform them of this problem, but I did not. I was afraid they would send that guy out again.
When the indoor kitchen slab was installed, there was a flaw in the way part of the granite was polished. Becky had her installers back and they tried several times to fix the areas. However, it could not be fixed. Becky had her boss, Oscar, the owner, come out and look at the situation. Oscar agreed that the stone would have to be replaced, and said he would have to see if they could get the same granite slab I chose from the same lot number. He called me a couple of days later to inform me he could not locate the slab in the same lot number as the original slab. He said I would have to come and look through their slabs to see if there was another slab I liked as well as the first. If I couldn't find anything he told me he would have Becky take me on a "road trip" to Nashville to their suppliers to see if there was anything I liked. Becky & I looked for a week in Knoxville, but found nothing; so on to Nashville, we went. I found a slab there but also found a different finish I liked. Rocky Tops tried to think of all different approaches to taking out the flawed granite, having the new finish I liked put on the original slab and then reinstalling the original counter tops. They soon decided that approach was too risky and that what Rocky Tops was most interested in was having a satisfied customer & making me happy. So the new slab I found in Nashville was purchased, had the leathered finish put on it and then installed in my indoor kitchen. It was beautiful; I was happy and Rocky Tops was happy they had a happy and satisfied customer.
I enjoyed working with Rocky Tops and appreciate all the work and time they put into making sure I had a kitchen that was beautiful.
There were no problems encountered in the outdoor kitchen granite installation or granite itself.
"Rocky Tops Marble & Granite was never contracted and never performed any work for the members or sold them any materials. The members never invoiced by Rocky Topsor paid Rocky Tops for any work or materials. Rocky Tops was not involved in this job. At the time we did not offer tile or tile installation. An employee of Rocky Tops had a fully licensed side business installing tile after hours and on week-ends. This business was not a conflict of interest since we did not offer tile installation at that time. This is "Riverbend Construction" mention by the members. The members were fully aware that Rocky Tops was not doing the work and signed a contract with Riverbend Construction not Rocky Tops. Rocky Tops did quote selling and cutting to size some slab material for this job to Riverbend, but the job order was never placed and no work or material for this job was ever done by Rocky Tops. At some point, the members and Riverbend Construction had a conflict with the job. Since the owner of Riverbend worked for Rocky Tops, the members decided that Rocky Tops should be responsible even though we had nothing to do with the job. At the members' request, I visited their job to see if I could help resolve the situation. The members wanted to show me all the issues they had with the tile job. I explained numerous times that Rocky Tops was not in the tile installation business and that they had contracted with Riverbend. I saw several issues with the job, most of these issues were caused by the members' desire to save money by not installing tile under the cabinets. Instead, they put some plywood under the cabinets and had the cabinets set before the tile was installed. The floor was unlevel and the plywood under the cabinets was not thick enough to allow for proper leveling of the tile. Since several of the cabinets were floor to ceiling, the members would not remove them to allow the floor height to be properly leveled. The members required the tile to be level, but would not remove the cabinets for this to be done correctly because of the cost of reinstalling the cabinets. In short, the memebrs did the job in the wrong order, they installed cabinets before installing the floor and wanted the tile person to be responsible. Although there were other issues that the members had with Riverbend, it is my opinion after visiting the job that installing the cabinets first and not installing tile across the entire floor were the root cause of the main problems. The member were well aware that they were not hiring Rocky Tops to do this job. Any indication by this person otherwise is unture. The contract was signed with Riverbend. All contact was with Riverbend and all work was done after hours or on the week-end. The only reason that the members wanted to get Rocky Tops involved was that they were not getting the satisfaction they wanted from Riverbend and saw Rocky Tops as the company to go after since the owner of Riverbend was an employee of Rocky Tops. When I suggested that the members should take Riverbend to court, they said that they had already checked and "he didn't have anything worth getting" which was why they wanted me to be responsible. This entry is unfair to Rocky Tops since we had no involvement in the job. Rocky Tops sells and installs both Natural stone and quartz countertops as well as cultured marble bathroom tops, tubs and showers. We stand behind any and all of our work and have an excellent reputation as evidenced by our A+ BBB rating with 0 complaints. In short, the members wanted to raise enough trouble until someone else paid for their mistake and Rocky Tops was the target."
