help me resolve issues with a MAC and laptop PC. Tommy hooked up a new cable
modem, a wireless router and verified proper operation with my desktop, laptop,
and IPad. The biggest challenge was to get the PC to connect via VPN and
maintain the connection. After some time trouble shooting the problem Tommy was
able to repeatedly acquire a stable connection that after 3+ weeks continues
to work. It has always been a challenge to find someone capable of working on
PC’s and Mac’s equally; Tommy appeared to be proficient with both
platforms. Tommy is pleasant,
knowledgeable, thorough, and professional. I am completely satisfied with his
work. I found this company on Angie’s List.
"(removed member name), It was our pleasure to work with you! Thank you for the great review. I am glad to hear the VPN workaround is still working for you. Thanks again!"
Then my Applecare expired and my son’s Mac Pro needed emergency service. I again dropped by Neighborhood Nerds to see what they could do for me and how much it would cost. Yes, I could have gotten on line or waited on the phone with Apple, but this seemed like less of a headache. Boy, am I glad I did!
The Neighborhood Nerds have a beautiful shop in the Sequoyah Village. They have
several sharp and experienced tech guys who are absolutely fabulous, including a former Apple genius with 6 years Apple employment history.
They offer a variety membership packages or la carte services. They will come to your house and inventory all your electronics
in order to help you remotely and not have to ask you in the future what you have. I am not certain how all the plans and rates are
set up as I was short on time and jumped at the opportunity to have the cheapest membership for $20. per month. I just decided I wanted to be able to call on them as a member, not an ala carte customer..and I could always adjust my status with them. A variety of plans are available, including The Mansion Plan, which I did not investigate but it did peak my interest!
The owner, Tommy, fixed my son’s 3 yr old Mac Pro laptop in minutes. Since my first service with them, they have helped me with selecting and installing a great scanner, backing up a computer, among others. It seems there are about 3 techy guys and Linda, who runs the office and is quite sharp, pleasant and helpful also. A bonus was I found a tutor ( not an employee) for my son’s special interests in animation and such for $30. a session.
They have classes on site both group and individual.
I used to go to the apple store, but most of my AppleCare has expired and is not renewable; additionally, it is no longer convenient. The Nerds are available by phone, email, remotely, at their shop or your home or business. And you do not have to go through giving them your serial numbers, your id, blah, blah. They offer one to one client appointments as well as workshops.
I am very happy I went to visit the Neighborhood Nerds
and purchased a membership ! I recommend them all the time! I say it is like Applecare and AAA Plus Plus Plus for all your technology.
I have dropped projects off for the nerds to take care of for me such as the computer back up and the scanner set up-
and other times I have called or emailed with a question about a Microsoft
product. They are always sweet, reassuring and take care of whatever I need.
I think they offer many more services than I have utilized to this point; I would advise anyone to check out their website, call or go by to see if they have services to help make your life easier and less stressful that I have not taken the time to learn about or use.
I really want to thank Neighborhood Nerds for being there! They are such a luxury and necessity for me ...like my own personal tech on retainer!
(Note: I put $50. for service fee, but I am not sure about that because I joined the cheapy plan...you have to put something in the box . Also, Angie’s list has been censoring the word n*** and nerds....just a funny side note ;)
