Sorry we do not repair trimmers, chainsaws and other 2 cycle equipment. We also provide a pick-up and return service option. It is our mission to provide personal friendly service within our community, with trust, reliability and quality. We also offer our Club Genius program for your end of season service needs.

I was glad they could offer me next day service. I was a little disappointed in that the charge was 10.00 more than my estimate but very pleased in all other areas.

However, we did keep with our estimate the only additional charge was tax. Unfortunately, the state does make us collect tax, even on site visits. #1 was told 7 to 10 days.......it took 29 days #2 Tried to bill me for a $120 service that was never discussed #3 Took it there suspecting loss of fire and relayed that info to owner and both workers, Took it to them to have it diagnosed and all that happened was parts changed and carb cleaned that has nothing to do with the problem stated. After racking up $ 334.00 bill still the problem wasnt fixed. Then owner came to look at it and within 15 min determined that the coils were needing changed. Which was my suggestion in the first place. Bill was reduced to an agreed upon price to $204 plus the $89 I had already paid and when I went to pick it up it was $10 more than agreed upon. Will never use them again, you will not have a technician work on your machine just a parts changer. Powell Power is your best bet, would of only been $200.00 there but they were 2 weeks backed up and I was looking for a faster turnaround. Total paid was $305.00 the Genuis

"Wow, i do not know what to say here. We woked exceeding hard to repair a difficult problem. It did take sometime because the coil issue was hard to find, as it was a manufacturer issue from Kohler and their solution has evolved over the years. However, we did find it, we kept in communication with the customer and did not charge him for all the hours we had in his machine. I personally believed that the customer was happy seeing that we did repair his machine at the agreed upon price, and that we did not give up. We charged him $305.00 total, $29.00 was tax, $141.00 was cost of the parts with our cost of shipping. Our labor charge was about $134.00 and we had about 7 man hours in repair, research, speaking with the customer and part ordering, twice. Some of this we may not have gotten correct on the first try, but we never gave up, treated the customer well and repaired his equipment. I am amazed at the lack of grace in this situation - we are very thankful that the customer has found a place to take his equipment."

Both items returned to me not operational - it was obvious the work wasn't checked before equipment was returned to me. Riding mower had wrong size blade attached and was too big to turn. The second the blade was turned on it jammed into the mower deck and stalled the engine. When Mower Genius came back to the house to assess the problem, they couldn't figure it out in the driveway and took the mower back to the shop. The push mower didn't work either. It would start and then stall out. They took this back with them along with the rider. Many weeks the push mower sat at Mower Genius with e-mail updates advising this was a known issue and they were working with Honda. After calling asking for the mower back regardless of working condition, I brought it to Mayo Garden Center who is the local Honda service center and issue was resolved next day. In the end they refunded a portion of the money I spent on the push mower, and credited my account for the service charges while still charging me for the assessment fee they charge just to look at a machine. I was enticed by the quick turn around they offered, but found the quality of the work to be poor. Overall bad experience.

"From time to time mistakes are made. When this customer called us about his Riding mower we immediately went out and picked it up. While we do not work on lawn mowers in our customers driveway, we do offered prompt turn around. Which was done and his rider was completed at no additional charge. His push mower was not running correctly and for whatever reason we were unable to get his mower to properly run. We then offered a refund which was given. We are far from perfect and we are very happy that this customer's push mower was repaired. This feedback will be used to improve our service, thank you."

After about two weeks it was ready. I was told they had replaced the carburetor and it would run like new. I paid $75.38. It started only once when I tried to use it so I took it back. Jim said it was common for mowers to have to come back in because they wouldn't start after coming into their shop and the carburetor was probably the problem. When I picked it up after their second "repair, they said they replaced the carburetor! They charged $81.34 for this second repair, even after Jim and I spoke at some length that this was not right. So they soaked me for $156.72 to get my mower running! And when I got it home and used it, it didn't run smoothly and the motor kept surging! Their workmanship proved to be very poor.

"We have tried to explain the process of repair to this customer, but he would not hear it. So, this will give us the opportunity. First, if we have done anything improper we would at a moments notice provide him with a full refund. However, this was and is not the case. It is actually quite simple. The customer brought his mower in, stating that it would not run. We first checked the engine to make sure it was good, it was. Then we removed all the old gas and blew out the lines. We then replaced the oil, spark plug, air filter. Then lo and behold it ran, and ran well. So, we then sharpened his blade. Therefore; there was no need to do any "unnecessary work' if it was running fine. We then just charged him $69.00 for a service. (We also have a minimum charge listed on our website of one hour charge $69.00, he failed to read this). However, from time to time a machine will act up if they have not ran and sat over the winter with old fuel. Therefore; it is possible that the customer may return, however we are NOT going to change parts that do not exhibit a problem at our shop. We only fix what we see as a problem. If a customer, like this customer does return, we then will install a new carburetor. We then only charge the cost of the carburetor and the half hour install, not the minimum labor of an hour. I would like to be clear here... the total charge that this customer was charged for both invoices was exactly what it would have cost him if we would have changed the carburetor the first time. No more and no less. We have found over the years that this is fair to the customer and to our employees. We have completed hundreds of push lawn mowers over the years with the same issue, they all have been charged the same price whether it is completed in one visit or two, no difference. The only complaint that this customer may have is that we had to order his carburetor from Honda and it took a couple of extra days. It seems this customer just did not want to spend the amount he did on his repair. We are sorry sir, but that is what this kind of repair costs, many people do, but we did nothing wrong, and to suggest there may be some dishonesty, shows this customers desire to slander our name. Look at the other reviews let them speak for themselves."

While Jim was very professional and responsive on the phone, they had my machine for over 2 weeks and when all was said and done, they didn't fix it. They concluded that it needed a new carburetor and had to order that, only to find that the new one didn't fix the problem. Then told me that it must be a bad engine as the compression was way too low. Said the repair would be very expensive and that a warranty claim would be unlikely since they felt "bad" gas may have been responsible. I paid a token $35 for their diagnosis work. I then took the pressure washer to a "garage mechanic" small engine guy. He found that the spark plug was cracked, replaced it and the machine started right up and ran perfectly. Have used it twice since with no problems whatsoever. Only cost me $40. This other guy (Josh of Metal in Motion) saved me from throwing the thing out and buying a new one. Bless him. Bottom line --- Mower Genius made an assumption about what was wrong without actually looking at the machine --- and told me it was basically unfixable (affordably) --- when all it needed was a new spark plug. I was quite disappointed. Professional demeanor but not so genius workmanship. Won't go there again.

Jim was wonderful! He came out and picked up our riding mower and loaded it himself on his trailer. He got the mower running like new. It wouldn't even start before. It works great now. He delivered it right when he said he would. He was very professional and timely with his calls and updates on his progress. He has our business for life! No one can go wrong using him to service your small engines.

Hardin Valley Equipment use a computer based booking system for pick up and scheduling of your work. They provide updates via e mail so you always know what is going on, no need to keep hanging on the phone. All repairs and servicing were explained to me and the customer service is excellent. I can really recommend this company.
