The roof installation was (so far) acceptable. The deck was installed with screws not predrilled so that all the planking split at the ends. Many screws missed the joist and therefor were not secured at all. As the pressure treated wood dried, it began to buckle and pull up on the ends where screws did not penetrate the joist. Now there are multiple trip hazards and lots of buckled up boards. The window installation was not done correctly in that the windows were not installed far enough out to match the brick, leaving a gap of approximately 3 to 4 inches between the window and the edge of the brick. The hardwood floor was a complete disaster! It was installed immediately upon arrival at the site although I questioned the installer about letting the wood warm before installation. Now the floor is buckled in four places throughout the house. There are also hundreds of damaged edges on the wood where the nailer was used improperly. When this was brought to the attention of the installer he said the wood often comes out of the box damaged in that manner. There are drill holes in one section of the floor were the windows were set on the floor, drilled for installation and the drill went through the window frame and into the newly installed floor. The installer said the three perfectly round, same size holes were defects in the wood! Mitch Hazlewood left the job unfinished and after receiving his last weekly labor payment, did not return to the site and will not answer repeated calls for over a month.
