Shopping for the carpet went fine. The sales staff was helpful. The price seemed competitive. The product appeared good (one of their best and most expensive lines). We were finishing our basement and needed carpet and pad for over the concrete slab in our rec room, a bedroom and a study as well as a closet under the stairs. We paid for measuring and chose the laying format requiring a few extra square feet of carpet - no big deal as it was less than $100 more. The price for that was about $7,200.
Installation seemed to go smoothly. We had a couple of areas that needed small adjustments and the installers took care of that beautifully before they left. However, we were shocked when we saw how much extra carpet remained at the end of the job - a huge amount that was sufficient to carpet a rather large master bedroom! We had paid for all that carpet, based on Lowe's measurements, and they had overestimated big time. Just no excuse for such a measuring miscue. I had heard complaints of Lowe's overestimating carpet needs, but this was beyond ridiculous. Not wanting to waste that amount of carpeting, we went back to Lowe's and paid another $1,300 for padding and install of the extra carpet in our master bedroom (along with some extra carpet for the walk in closets). I am giving price a "C" because of all the unnecessary carpet we had to buy for the basement.
Meanwhile, we had found out that while the original installers had taken off the doors before carpeting the basement, they had failed to do so with the pocket door, which was in its pocket in the wall and could no longer come out due to the carpeting. The new installers had no suggestion for removing the door, so I called Lowe's installation. The woman told me she would get in touch with the owner of the carpet installation company and he would call me back. No response back thereafter. So customer care after the install is buyer beware.
I have never given this low a review before on Angie's List, but it is one I believe is well deserved.
We really like Lowe's. Their associates are always so friendly and helpful. We often order online and then pick up at the store and they are always ready with our order and ready to help load. We do a lot of business with them and have found them to be a wonderful source of information, expertise and assistance. Last year one of their associates spent a great deal of time trying to find a set of tables we wanted and he kept in touch with us by phone. He found one last set left in the US and had them sent to our home. Highly recommened !!!
some of the windows were not the right size and/or damaged on arrival on site and were reordered.
The only downside was the length of time for the project to be completed.
The salesman put me in touch with the local energy company to have an inspection done before and after the installation, and then filed all the paperwork for me to obtain a $500 energy rebate. Being new to the area, I was not aware of the program and was particularly happy with his help.
Workers were efficient and courteous
The store was very helpful in helping select suitable windows etc.
The crew that installed the windows were clean, courteous and very professional.
We are very pleased with our new windows.
