K & K Firewood Co

This company was recommended to me by the man who has worked on my chimney.  He heats his home with a wood stove and uses (or used ) them for some time.  There is a Minimum amount one can purchase and it seemed a bit expensive to me, but the firewood was very good quality, very dry and burned cleanly.  I don't have a lot of fires so it has lasted me a long time.  Because the wood had to be delivered while I was at work it was left in my driveway and I had to stack it in the garage myself.  I don't know if they will stack it for you.  The logs were not huge, but they were a good size for my fireplace, I thought.

I found this company in the paper after getting some very unseasoned wood from someone I found on Craigslist.   The man I spoke to from K & K promised me that the wood he had was seasoned and it had been cut at least 12-14 months ago.  He said that he had a 2 rick minimum and so I purchased 2 ricks for $85 each.   I thought that was a little pricey but I needed some dry wood.  He delivered it when he said that he would and the wood looked okay at first but when we started stacking it, we noticed that most of it was rotten.  There were a few dry pieces and some green wood but the majority of it looked like it had been buried underground for months.  I can literally poke my finger in the wood.  It was also extremely dirty and we tried to knock off some of the dirt when we stacked it but a lot of it won't come off.  Now when we try to burn the firewood it is very smoky in the living room and doesn't put out very much heat.  I am really disappointed because he said they were very reputable and promised me good wood.  At least when I pay for green wood I know that I can burn it next year but this wood is just going to rot more and will probably be a pile of dirt by next year.  I will never buy from this company again.
