Jia-Moore Construction

Jia-Moore solicited business throughout the neighborhood shortly after the hail storm. The assured me they were a Knoxville based company, and they had a local address and phone number, not to mention that Angie's List listed them as well. Boy, was I duped in the long run. They are a company based in Ohio, and they brought in guys from Ohio. When they would come collecting incremental amounts of money, both owners, who are brothers, would come into the house and expect more money than what they had quoted. Of course, more money was out of the question. Professionals should know how to quote. However, I have since discovered 2 leaks and need to get them fixed. NO response from the local phone number (no longer in service), and no response from the Ohio number. They did not return call. Should I report them to the State attorney general? Maybe. My neighbor, up the street, has the same complaint, if not more venomous than mine. DO NOT USE this company the next time a storm comes through and you need new siding, roofing, etc. Oh, by the way, I used Angie's List to make my decision to use them. BIG Mistake in this case. Sorry Angie.

Overall my experience with this company was horrible. I have heard such horror stories with contractors, but I do not think an experience could have gone worse. This company is not well managed, and especially not from a customer management aspect. This project was originally quoted to be finished within a week, then 2 weeks, then a month, and finally ended after 5 months of work. Thats right I said 5 months of living with this company coming in and out of my home. We were constantly lied to and very unimpressed with most of the interior work. There were several projects that had to be refinished due to crappy work. The sub contractors never had anything good to say about Jia Moore and would tell me Jia Moore was trying to cut serious corners. Jia Moore went through 3 different project managers over this time period. After the project was finished and Jia Moore was knocking to be paid, a signature by Jia Moores representative on the insurance check caused the check to be recalled by the insurance companies bank. I received a phone call from the owner and he threatened to take me to court, even though it was his employees signature who caused the check to be recalled, as well as the project taking 5 months. I would not recommend this company whether I lived in Knoxville TN or their hometown Toledo OH. Do not do business with this company!!

I had checked with Angie's list regarding some of the other companies and then Jia-Moore came by my place of business to solicit and I gave them a chance. They replaced some siding on my house and also fixed some leaks for me. I'm happy with their services that they provided.

Honestly, the completed roof is outstanding but the whole process of getting to a completion of *anything* is exhausting... Sweet, great guys though, but I think that they are just overwhelmed by over booking and lack of administrative assistance to help them keep organized....  Would I hire them again? Yes, if I was certain they would follow through expiditiously and they supervised their workers more closely for professionalism... Their completed work *is* excellent....

Tony from JIA Moore construction was present when the insurance adjuster came to look at the roof.  He was able to get almost the entire roof cost reimbursed by insurance. 
We were in constant contact with Tony, he and his staff worked hard to answer our voicemail and email messages in a timely fashion.  The roofing crew that came loves hard rock music which did not bother us, because their professional manner was very impressive.  Clean up at the end of the day was comprehensive with a magnet going over our driveway and lawn.  The roof was always protected from rain by the crew even though we did not have any rain showers before the tar paper underlayment was placed.  It did rain after half the roof was shingled and the tar paper/felt? underlayment was on the other half of the roof and there were no problems inside the house!!  Our house wasn't leaking anymore and it wasn't even completely covered by shingles!!! 
The crew was extremely friendly, hardworking and obviously knew their stuff.  One of the guys even got on our neighbor's roof to help a local Knoxville crew with a technical issue.  The crew was all from Ohio, but they specialize in fixing hail damage and have many years of experience.  The crew gets paid by sq ft done so there is an incentive to finish quickly.
The ridge vent, which Tony recommended, seem to cool off our upper floor incredibly well.  It was difficult before for our upper AC unit to keep the 2nd floor cool- the AC wouldn't ever cut off in the 90+ degree weather that we have been having.  Now, with the ridge vents, the attic stays cooler and the AC cuts off during the middle of the afternoon!!!  We think that this work will extend the AC unit's life.  We plan on getting JIA Moore to replace our hail damaged gutters and fascia as well. 
We recommend leaving an ice chest full of ice out for the roofers with at least bottled water and perhaps sports drinks in this hot weather.  We very much enjoyed talking to the crew and really appreciated their hard work and dedication to leave their families in Ohio to make extra money in Knoxville and help us hail-damaged folks. 

The overall experience was good.  Jia-Moore minimized the hassle of getting the roof repaired.  They were very responsive in providing the estimate and also responsive at getting the job finished quickly.
