Two thing I don't like about Home Depot, I'm finding out the prices weren't really as good as I thought they were and the main thing that bothers me is I find out that if I'm buying let's say a Delta faucet from Home Depot, you will get a better grade Delta faucet than if I go to a supplier to contractors. For instance, I was going to buy I can't remember if it's a sink or a toilet, I found out some of the wholesale supplier that I'm buying it from is made in USA but if you buy if from Home Depot, it's made in China but has the Delta name on it. For sure, I will use them again.

In 40+ years of home ownership, we have never had a worse experience. It has been over a year since we signed a contract for the 5-7 day project. The quality of the product is very poor. The installing company has been very hard to deal with as they tend to ignore requests for information or progress reports. We signed our contract on 6/14/2013. Work began on 8/26/2013. As of today, the work is not complete. Here are some of the details of what went wrong.

After we rejected multiple sets of laminate cabinet doors because of poor or missing finish, holes in the product, and unacceptable miter joints, I asked to switch from laminate to cherry wood finish. They assured us that we would not have quality issues with the wood veneer.
Since they did not offer a chocolate finish color in wood, we reluctantly opted to keep laminate on the island. After three more sets of doors for the island (five sets in total), we gave up and allowed five marginally acceptable doors to be installed.
After our drawers were installed, I discovered that they were two inches shorter than specified in the contract. All 13 drawers had to be removed, reconstructed and reinstalled.
We were forced to cancel our annual Thanksgiving and Christmas family gatherings at our home. Our kitchen was in complete disarray with its contents scattered throughout the house in order to keep the cabinets clear for the work that had to be done.
The installers ignored my requests for progress reports, installation schedules, etc. Their attitude throughout the project has been “when we have something to tell you we will call you.” We were obviously not a priority project as the months and the holidays rolled by.
On January 24, 2014, after being assured that all problems had been resolved, I signed off on the project. At that time I asked for and received a small reduction in the project price as partial compensation for what we had been through. Their assurance of
problem resolution was overly optimistic as product and installation problems started to surface almost immediately.
Within days the following things started happening or were noticed:
Only one out of 13 drawers closed correctly and consistently. In all other drawers the plastic gears responsible for the soft close failed.
Cherry veneer had buckled badly along the sides of both of our stacked ovens.
Seams between the cherry veneer and countertops were not caulked as specified.
Edge seams on the island had separated.
The very visible center seam on the back of the island was not centered. Furthermore, it too had separated.
Cherry veneer had chipped on the lower edge of the desk due to improper preparation of the underlying surface.
Filler material/stock was missing from several edges where the cherry veneer meets the wall.
Two false drawer fronts on the island had “bumps” in them, caused by the use of screws that were too long.
Faces of the old cabinets were visible through improperly cut or missing veneer.
The hardware on the rollouts had scratched the backs of the cabinet doors.
When our dog ran into one corner of the island, a 3 x 1.5 inch chip popped off: there was no corner molding over it. (They said that the only way to fix that was to use two pieces of quarter-round as there was no exterior corner molding
available. After my call to Customer Services on 4-16, correct corner molding magically became available!)
I could go on and on with the problems. A call to Hone Depot Customer Services in April got very slow response and a grudging effort to fix the problems. Some were fixed, but others were ignored. I have discovered additional things that are failing or poorly done.
Do not ever have Home Depot reface your cabinets. The work is very expensive, and the results are poor. Even a letter to Hone Depot corporate officers got nothing but a response of and quot;Oh, I thought everything was fine.and quot; Since then, nothing but silence.

The installers worked very hard to give us the cabinets that we wanted. The process was very dusty at times and the adhesive strong smelling but the installers did everything that they could to keep the dust and odor contained within the kitchen. The resulting cabinets are very attractive and functional. The install did take longer than estimated, in part because two installers were apparently planned for the job but one did most of the work. Apparently the second individual was called away to perform other duties for the installing firm after the job was started. A couple of the drawers were found to have minor installation defects and these were corrected by the installer without any question. The installer that performed much of the install was very punctual and both were very courteous.

I had about 1500 square feet of pre-finished hardwood flooring installed upstairs.Prior to installation, I had all of my furniture moved downstairs with the exception of one desk which I confirmed in advance could be worked around.
Before anyone uses the Home Depot services for flooring installation, I recommend that you know every detail about what needs to be done and that it is in writing. The phrase and quot;I am a subcontractor and that is not in my contractand quot; will be a phrase I never want to hear again.
Contract installation was done by Romanoff Flooring, Project Manager, Barry.
1. First issue, the guy writing up my quote for the measurement did not know where to locate the skew number of the flooring I selected. Training issue. A second and third visit to Home Depot put me in touch with two people who knew what they were doing.
2. Measuring guy was just a measuring guy. Could not answer any questions about what was needed for installation. He told me that. This resulted in a major problem near the end of my flooring installation.
3. Delivery. Two palates of flooring needed to be delivered to the upstairs area. It was not in their contract to deliver to the upstairs area. Besides, I was told, if that much wood is put upstairs, my floors would collapse. (I hope you are laughing because upstairs is where it was put into place- so far the celings have not collapsed). Three phone calls later, Home Depot sent four guys to help put the wood in the upstairs areas.
5. Installation. The stacking was not done well and I have several back to back one foot sections in the run initially done. I did ask the project manager to take out the nine one foot sections along the wall of the master bedroom which he did after saying and quot;that is the way it is supposed to be... looks fine to me .... but whatever you want...and quot; Another phone call to Home Depot.
6. Plunge cuts in doorframes. I now have 1/4and quot; gaps in 12 doorframes where the plunge cuts were made too high. Have no idea how to rectify this.
7. After most of the hardwood was down, the quarterround was laid out. At this point I discovered that I only had 1 1/2 to 2and quot; of my white baseboard showing. Throughout my house I have 4and quot; baseboards. After asking the project manager about this he replied and quot; I would have pulled the baseboards and quot; at NO POINT IN THE PROCESS did anyone recommend pulling and replacing the baseboards. A query with Home Depot verified this. This is generally not done I was told and it would have been the measuring guy's responsibility. Hmmm... the measuring guy already told me that was not in his contract. Oh yes, it was not in the project manager's contract to make that recommendation. In fact they are told not to make those recommendations because it costs the customer more money. Let me see... spend more... have a correct job done... or be unhappy with a sloppy job. Want to keep me as a Home Depot customer?
8. The employees at Home Depot were responsive to my queries during this process. I wound up with a Home Depot person who had a good knowledge base and understood customer service and satisfaction but once past the point of no return during the installation process, all she could say was live with it for a while before you pull the baseboards and replace the quarterround. The contract folks were just that, ticket fillers who lacked the training and professionalism expected for great customer service. I am certain the flooring guys do not consider me one of their favorite people, after all, I questioned their installation work! This resulted in Ginger from the Romanoff Flooring home office making a visit. At least she was a second set of eyes on the job. But was in full support of the sloppy job. She tried to make a point that Barry is so loved he is starting work on a multimillion dollar property with curved walls next week- my heart goes out to those people.
9. Now I am looking at replacing several door frames, replacing baseboard and quarter round. What's my bet that Home Depot via it's subcontractors is not responsible for any of that?
Well it is and quot;not on my ticketand quot; and and quot;not in my contractand quot; to utilize Home Depot's subcontractor services ever again. That said, make your own decision.

They have lots of stuff. Sometimes we find what we want and sometimes we don't. Their prices are low. Basically we either go to Home Depot or we go to another retail chain. I actually go to both, and then I end up picking something back from one or the other. They don't always have the best stuff, but they typically have something that will work. We have to do a lot of looking online to find something that may work. But it's always nicer having it in our hand and maybe take a measuring tape and measure it. It is difficult to do that online, because we can't look at it, hold it and think how something is going to fit. Their prices are fine. The quality is not always the best, but I am pretty picky. Usually once we get in there, the people there know where the stuff is in their store. So we can say that we are looking for this particular thing, they can send us to it. In terms of responsiveness, they are very good. But if we are not quite sure what we want or what we want doesn't quite exist, then trying to figure out something else that they might have that we could use, then they really can't do that. But I don't know if anyone could. With regard to professionalism, they are very good.

There were some blips, but eventually it all worked out fine. Be very careful of what you order at the desk, when you first order it and make sure it's exactly what you asked for and the price is correct.

The person sent to reface the cabinets was due on the first day between 9-10am. He showed up at 11:30am. Had personal problems. He removed the old doors and drawers the first day and left after 2 hours. The second day he arrived at 10am (after saying he would be here at 8am) and worked till 12:15 when he left for lunch. After an hour and 45 minutes, he returned (said he had car trouble). The third day he arrived at 9:30 and was only gone for 30 minutes for lunch and finished the job and left at 5:30. When he was here he did a great job and worked hard. Even though the timelyness was questionable, he did great work and the cabinets look great!. We would probably use Home Depot again for this type work.

Men came on Monday and checked floor and determined that the concrete slab our home is built on was cracked and not level. They poured the leveling compound on Monday and cut the quarter round for all rooms and left for the day. They returned on Tuesday and laid the flooring and applied the quarter round and applied chalking around the hearth. They were professional and on time both days. Home Depot used Romanoff Flooring to install the floors. They called to left us know when they were coming and called the night before to confirm it. We would use them again

Home Depot was great. They kept me informed of the progress via email with a project manager. The windows were installed quickly with no mess inside or outside of the house.
I have always found Home Depot to be a great place to shop and I also find them to be woman friendly. I have walked out of other Home Improvement stores because I couldn't get anyone to help me. Home Depot Customer Service is great!

They are neat and clean when they come deliver. In the past when we had an issue with a rubber seal on a wash machine that we purchased, they were out within 24 hours to repair it. We recently purchased a new fridge, stove top, and oven. They delivered the wrong oven but we decided to keep it for now. They offered to switch out the models if we changed our minds with 90 days. When they installed the fridge they damaged the floor a little but they gave us a discount and sliders to help us move it in place. The appliances went on sale shortly after we purchased them. They don't normally have a price guarantee but the general manager, Todd Drew, was willing to work with us and so friendly and helpful they . The salesmen that we spoke with, Ronny Marking, was very well informed and he knew all the answers. They had so many options and were very well stocked. We had a couple small issues and they went above and beyond to get everything fixed and give us a good discount. They were willing to do anything they could to satisfy to us. I would give them an A+ if I could.
