Auto Tires
$375
Everything went well at the time of purchase with regard to having new tires put on a vehicle. The new tires were installed just prior to a vacation trip whereby we would be traveling by auto. While on vacation the right front tire would leak approximately five pounds of air pressure per week. After returning from vacation, I continued to monitor the air leak as I have an air compressor at home until time for the 5,000 mile rotation. When I took my vehicle to Henderson Tire for the 5,000 mile tire rotation I asked Henderson Tire to please check the right front tire to determine where it was leaking. I was told the problem was a faulty valve stem. Henderson Tire replaced the valve stem and told me I was good to go. However, almost immediately, I realized the tire still had the leak. Henderson Tire is a 40-mile round trip for me and so I took my car to a local tire dealer and had them take a look at the leak. The tire was leaking around the rim due to old rubber residue left on the wheel when the new tire was mounted. This tire shop wire brushed the wheel and remounted the tire, charged me $15.00 and I have had no further problem with this tire. As the winter weather of 2010 became colder I noticed the air pressure of the three remaining tires started leaking air (ranging from 4-10 lbs. per week). After a month of adding air to these three tires I took my car to Five Oaks Tire & Service of Sevierville where I got the same diagnosis as in the first tire, i.e., the tires were leaking around the rim due to old rubber residue left on the wheel when the new tires were mounted. On February 14, 2011, I sent a letter to Henderson Tire outlining my tire leakage frustration and enclosed with my letter a copy of billing charges from Five Oaks Tire & Service in the amount of $72.44 for the removal of my tires, the cleaning of my wheels and tire balancing. Given the foregoing, in my letter I informed Henderson Tire they are responsible for my frustration and certainly responsible for my cost in part. That I feel Henderson is responsible for any an all amounts I have paid over and above what they may have charged me to wire brush the old rubber residue from my wheels prior to mounting the new tires. Henderson Tire did not respond to my letter.
