We made plans around the delivery date of the refrigerator (these plans affected what we had to do the day prior to the delivery, since we were out of town and had to return to be present for the delivery - otherwise we could have stayed longer, where we were sorting out business matters for an elderly family member).
On the day of the 31st, after waiting several hours without hearing from Best Buy's delivery team, we called to see what the hold-up was. It took nearly an hour (of being placed off and on hold with several customer service representatives) to finally learn that the order had - for NO apparent reason - been cancelled on the 28th by some guy named Robert Bower. During the hour we spent being placed off and on hold repeatedly, we were ultimately told that they really didn't know why the order had been cancelled. While I was on hold, my husband checked our bank account, and while they did at least refund us the amount we'd paid for the refrigerator, that was it. No fridge, no reasons, just ... nothing.
SO, in short, we took hours of time we will never get back buying and waiting for delivery of a fridge that was never going to come. No notice was given that delivery would not be made, no phone calls, no emails, no tweets, NOTHING. When we contacted Best Buy, they couldn't even explain their own ineptitude or failure to deliver the goods we'd paid for.
Bad service at its zenith, just waiting for you at Best Buy. Do. Not. Go. There. EVER!
I was told that our geek would arrive on the day of service between 8 a.m. and 12 noon, and that he would call first. At 8:15 a.m. we received a call from our geek. He revewied with my husband the services we needed and informed us that he would arrive in about 2 hours. An hour-and-a-half later, he arrived after calling us to let us know he was on the way.
He introduced himself as Bill and told us we were welcome to watch him and ask questions while he worked. Bill was very personable and explained things as he went along. He was at our house for 3 hours and resolved all of our issues.
Geek Squad does not charge by the hour, but rather by services rendered. They charge $129.00 for the house call and diagnostics; $39.99 for a tune-up on the desktop; $24.99 for network security; $149.99 for Microsoft Office.
We are very satisfied with the service and will gladly use them again, if need be.
