Fred Inklebarger, of Frederex Contracting Company was sent by Pella Windows to do the final measurements and he returned with his crew to install the 14 windows that we ordered.
It made me very nervous to have gaping holes in my house and installers around for the two days it took to replace so many windows.  Fred and his crew of two guys were very professional and never seemed to leave the gaping holes unattended.
Preparation for the window install was very important.  I think I would have had a very different experience had I not moved all furniture and decor away from the windows, including removing curtains and uninstalling blinds from the windows.  Carefully read the what they will do and what they won't do before install day.  We have one window that has a sagging frame and there is nothing that they can do about that on install day.  Also if it rains, which it did on install day 1, they can't continue to work on the outside of the house.
Another word of caution- there will be glass if old windows are being removed and have to be broken out!  The crew taped and covered the windows with sticky paper to get the most of it, but we had fixed upper windows so it was very difficult to remove them from the opening.  The crew vacuumed up after each was removed, but there were unavoidable small pieces that I vacuumed up before I let my cat roam the house again.  (These kind of contractors must wear shoes because of the glass so it will get tracked into your house, although Fred and his crew try their best to remove mud and debris).  The driveway also was swept up by the contractors at the conclusion of the work, but I gave it another sweeping to ensure all the tiny glass fragments were gone.
These guys were always busy, steadily working to install the beautiful new windows correctly.  The windows I had replaced were all storm damaged.  I will hire Fredrex directly to replace the rest of the house's windows.
