The first thing I would note is that they have moved but not updated their website. This should have been the first clue.
I have an Asus Zenbook. The touchpad started acting up 2 weeks earlier but I rarely use it as I have a Bluetooth mouse. We went to Knoxville for Thanksgiving and it really started giving me problems. The cursor would jump around, opening cell in Excel and inserting data, jumping around in Word docs and causing problems on web pages. The touchpad cannot be disabled, a known issue with Zenbooks.
I noted that if the laptop was picked up by the corner, either left or right, everything worked fine. I needed this laptop because I use it on business trips. So, looking on the internet, Cybertec seemed to be a good choice because they say they've been in business in Knoxville for 25 years.
Bottom line, I was supposed to get a diagnosis within an hour. They spent all day supposedly just turning it off and on. After I got ahold of them 6 hours after dropping it off, they requested authorization to take the back off the computer! When I dropped it off originally, I gave a thorough description of the problem to include the flexing-fix, along with authorization to perform ANY diagnosis needed. So I told them to go ahead. 2 hours later, they called me stating they were 90% sure what the problem was and if I could get back there within the hour (before they closed) they would let me know what they found.
What I found is that they really had no idea. Except now the computer will not boot up at all, it will not power up on battery at all, they explained the broken tabs on the battery were pre-existing, and that, because the fan wasn't spinning, they were 90% sure that's what the problem was. They had no fan to test it.
3 weeks and $30 later, it's not the fan and I'm looking for a reputable company in Huntsville, AL, our home, to get my laptop fixed.
