My pets have always received wonderful care. The staff is very attentive and I've always received a followup phone call to check my pet's recovery following surgery or illness. They've also managed to work me in quickly when something abrupt comes up.

They've always been good to us and our animals. They usually take us in for emergencies. The quality is great. We've been using them for years.

Staff are genuine and very compassionate. Pets receive excellent care.

We specifically see Dr. Peeny at Central Veterinary Hospital. She does surgeries on both my dogs, she does the exams, shots, annuals, x-rays, blood panel work ups and medicine. They talk to you before they do anything and ask you if you want to pay for it and the prices are reasonable. She is extremely thorough, she gives you the pros and cons to every situation. She is honest and does not sugar coat anything. She is very professional. Her biggest thing is her thoroughness. She will feel the dog and check him while she is talking to you. My oldest dog had cancer twice and she has another tumor now so we are fixing a schedule for her to go for surgery soon. The life expectance after surgery is 12 months but she had her first surgery in 2006.

After having a so-so experience with another vet clinic in town, we decided to change vets. Although we haven't taken our kitties for medical treatment yet (they aren't due for a checkup yet), we did take our kitty to be bathed for the first time ever. Everyone that we talked to was very helpful and kind, and they seemed to take good care of the kitty. He got an aloe/oatmeal bath for flaky skin. When he got home, he was clean, didn't seem too traumatized, and even smelled good. The bath seems to have helped his skin problem as well. Also, they are conveniently located for people who work downtown or at UT. So far, we have had a good experience.

Competent, profession, took time to do thorough exams, discuss all issues. One of the few AAHA certified facilities in Knoxville.

Recently moved to area. Found them on Angles List. Had a very sick cat. They were friendly and kind. They tried everything they could. I will definitely use them with our other cats.

They are very pet friendly and I feel very confident suggesting them to any pet owner. I've used their services for a long time. They do a good job in treating the pets and they are friendly. I will continue to use their services in the future.

CENTRAL VETERINARY HOSPITAL takes care of our four dogs. The oldest dog turned 18 (yes, 18!) on Dec. 30, 2011, and the vets at Central Vet make sure she is kept up-to-date on her medications, and that she is kept comfortable in her old age (creaky joints, heart murmmer, etc.) The non-vet staff is professional, keeps current on computer programs tracking your pet's care, and is knowledgable about your pet's care and medications -- and even better -- they are very kind and sweet to all the pets that come into their care. We left a terrible vet practice that was mere minutes from our home to swap over to Central Vet, but we don't mind driving the 15-20 minutes it takes to get to Central Vet because we now have vets we trust. Vets you trust = peace of mind for your ''kids.''

I arrived early with the paper work filled out, because I printed it at home and took it in. I waited about 15 minutes, then we were called back for the exam. There were two people, the Dr, and an assistant - which was comforting considering my dog is over 50 lbs. Dr. Matthews explained everything to me, the possible causes for the problems, what he was looking for, and even took the time to explain some other things I had noticed about my dog that were unrelated to the visit. They took the urine sample there, instead of asking me to do it at home and bring one in. That was a big relief. Then told me to call in next day for the results. Based on the symptoms the veterinarian said it is more than likely an infection, and started my dog on antibiotics to help her get to feeling better. The reception staff was also very helpful and welcoming. This was my first visit here, and based on this first impression, I will be bringing both of my dogs here.

2011 Update: I had to put down the dog in the below write-up due to old age/illness, but take my new dog to Central Vet for all of her care. They have taken excellent care of both of my dogs, and they treat their furry patients as members of the family. This is an awesome veterinary hospital, and one of only a small number in the U.S. that is accredited.

2009:
My parents took our dogs here when I was a child. The reputation of the clinic made me want to take my own dog there. Over the almost 10 years I have had my dog, she has had numerous illnesses as well as ongoing health problems. She is on prescription meds and prescription food. Central Vet has worked with me to provide an ongoing treatment plan and provided excellent care for my dog. They provide excellent, compassionate care.

The doctor got all of them up to date on their shots and answered all of our questions with a down to earth answer. They were prompt and were out of there in an hour. The vet showed genuine care for our animals and our well being.

Called 2 days ahead, and made an appt. for Saturday morning. Their hours are great, and allowed me to come in when I could conveniently arrange it. We waited only 5 or 10 minutes for the doctor. Dr. Martin was very gentle, and caring with my kitten. This was our first visit, and he talked to me about everything he was doing, and why, while examining her. He asked me lots of questions about her behavior, etc, and recorded notes in her file. Before we hardly got started, he said that because she was a rescued kitten, her exam today was at no charge, and we would also be receiving a New Kitten Welcome Kit. It was a great first experience for both my kitten and me! I am so glad that I tried them; and I will be going back, every time.

Dr. Penny and the staff at central vet take great care of my cat. Central vet has early morning and weekend hours which means I don't have to miss work for appointments. I can usually get the first appointment of the day (7:40 am ) within a few days of calling. Dr. Penny always takes her time with the exam, answers my questions thoughtfully and thoroughly, and approaches problems with a healthy dose of common sense. I can also board my cat at Central vet. The doctors examine all of the boarded animals daily. I travel often for work and it is nice to know that she is in a safe place. I cannot recommend this practice strongly enough.

I like him because he does not use aggressive treatments with pet as he goes for the simple solutions first. They have a large staff and are great with my cat. I would highly recommend Dr. Black, as he is an older doctor and has a lot of knowledge and wisdom to offer.

I really don't like that we have to wait even when we schedule an appointment before we come in but they seem to be better than other veterinary clinics. Overall we are very happy with their services as we have been using them for over ten years now.

This facility is very clean and very friendly. I am always pleased with the compassion that they showed to my dog. I would recommend this company to anyone because every time we use them they welcome us and they are so warm to us and our dog. The prices are very reasonable and the staff is wonderful.
