Bellhop

The good: we got everything into the house for a fair price The bad: my time slot was moved back 3 separate times. The guys assigned to my job were small and had a hard carrying some of my heavier furniture (so I ended up helping). Significant time was spent strapping furniture to dollies and attempting to wheel them through gravel (not efficient at all). My carpet was badly damaged and I’ve subsequently spent countless hours cleaning them.

Bellhops was originally started at Auborn and is a college student oriented service to assist seniors in moving, lifting, and carrying heavy "stuff" in their home. They are active in 5 Tenn cities. They usually charge $40. per bellhop, per hour but on this date of Senior Citizens Day, they gave 3 hours work free to senior citizens.  The 2 young men who showed up were marvelous help - the lead student, a UT senior, called me the night before to firm up the appointment. They were punctual,friendly, polite, and very accommodating in carrying large boxes that had been stored in our attic down 2 flights of stairs to a room where I could unpack the boxes with ease.
