Jim D.
Dec 2011
Roofing
On Sept. 2, 2011 I entered into an agreement with the contractor to install a metal roof and reside half of my house due to hail damage. He received a check from my mortgage company in the amount of $1593.01 on Sept.30th, and an additional check for $1500.00 from me on Oct.5th for materials. After five weeks and many excuses ( I'm getting it from this place, I've decided to get it from another place, I'm getting it from a guy who's cutting it in his big garage) the material was delivered from a supplier 12 miles from my house on Nov. 9th. On Nov. 22nd the contractor delivered the wood stripping for the roof. On Nov. 25th he started working four or five hours a day two or three days a week.
I have finally gotten all the roof covered as of Dec. 13th, but we have had an abundance of rain and consequently I have interior ceiling damage due to the roof not being covered completely. I still do not have the trim on the roof. In addition, the valley at the gable joint is anything but straight. It is some of the sloppiest work I have ever seen. There is no telling when the roof will be 100% complete.
As I mentioned, I have an agreement to do all the work on my house for $4600.00. He has been paid $3093.01 and will not get another cent from me. I am breaking the agreement and I look forward to the possibility of him taking me to court for breach of contract. I have everything documented and his work photographed. I will find someone else to do my siding.
My recommendation is, if this guy wants to work on your property, kick him off your porch!!!
