$9,800
The final price was $5,000 more than the original estimate. Work was done that was unnecessary, and work that was written up in the estimate was not completed. When I confronted him about it he refused to provide documentation or proof of the additional materials and eventually escalated to cursing at me. I later found out he did not use the agreed upon materials, but instead used a cheaper material without informing me. Any time I confronted him it was met with more excuses.
I've continued to have problems with the roof. I have had to have other companies come out and repair leaks and other problems.

$9,000
I have a flat roof that I share with a neighbor who refused to go in on a roof repair. I hired 2 men to fix half the roof. They put down rubber and after a few months it was obvious they had no idea what they were doing. The leaks, which were bad, were no better. At that point I had Bill Snyder, owner of Plantation Roofing, come out to assess. He told me the rubber wasn't a good way to deal with the situation. He told me he'd have a tough job connecting 2 surfaces that shouldn't be together - tar and rubber. He said he would have to remove several large items, 2 heat pumps and a swamp cooler, from the roof. He is the one who told me what I was dealing with and about the difficulty. He said he could promise me 1 year of no leaks, that was it. He said his work might last for 2 years or 5 years but he would guarantee 1 year of no leaks. I paid him over $9000 for that 1 year of no leaks which supposedly began on 2/13/12. The roof leaked within a short period of time. Bill Snyder was unresponsive to my reports of leaks. I had to send a registered letter in July to even get a call back. Long story short - the roof has never stopped leaking after a few attempts on his part to fix it. He declared on  4/10/13 that he was through working on my roof because he found beer bottles and cans clogging a drain. This was 14 months after the checks were written to him and nothing had ever been up there before. (We met up on the roof on March 8 and there were no obstructions or items on the roof.)  He will say what he needs to say to get the job. He is hostile and greatly  overestimates his roofing abilities. He repeatedly implied I was ungrateful because the roof is much better than it was and only has a few leaks! This roof is at a business so I have literally hundreds of people who have seen ceiling tiles become water stained and be replaced (at my expense) over the past 15 months.

Yes, I recommend this pro
The job is turning out to be very difficult, but he is staying with it and being very diligent in making sure everything is working.  I don't even have to call him when there are problems, he knows when he needs to come and check something.
