EVERGREEN OF JOHNSON CITY

Purchased a 30 gallon, $499 maple tree and scheduled it for planting.  A very large tree.  Told that planting it would cost more than the tree as it was a major undertaking performed by professionals.  I would be billed on completion.  After the tree had leafed out it was brought to my home and the digging commenced.  Shortly, I saw that the two men were attempting to get it into a hole in the ground that was clearly too small and that it wouldn't fit.  I asked the lead man why it wasn't being planted in a hole twice the size of it's root ball, as is standard practice.  He said "Do you change the oil in your car every three thousand miles?".  His helper said "mulch hides anything".  The tree was planted with about two inches to spare around and 4-6 inches protruding above ground.  I told them that it looked bad and went in the house.

The next morning I went to their office and told them exactly what I said here.  I was soon surrounded by the crew that did the work and an angry production manager ridiculing the very notion of making a 6 foot hole for a 3 foot root ball.   I told them that that is precisely how their own web site ([*** Link removed ***] says to plant a tree.  A 6' hole for a 3' root ball only leaves 18" of transition soil around it and is perfectly standard and reasonable.  He said their web site was wrong and he would fix the web page and the tree was guaranteed.  I told him that the fact that they are guaranteeing the tree is irrelevant.  It's a tree not a tomato plant and a poorly planted tree may take years to die or simply never thrive.  Additionally, after one year, the customer is liable for the labor cost to replant, which exceeds the cost of a tree.  I told them I absolutely would not pay and to get it out of my yard.  They did.  However, they have dragged their feet refunding my $500 deposit and have been arrogant, confrontational and dismissive.

 If you hire this company, educate yourself before they arrive and keep an eye on them.

Dennis provided excellent ideas for our new lawn, from grass to plants to trees. He is very knowledgeable and helpful and never made us feel like we were wasting his time. He designed what we needed on a limited budget. The landscaping was just completed by friendly, hardworking men. We are quite pleased with the final result and will definitely use Evergreen again.

I wanted trees planted on specific date for a birthday gift.  They were able to accommodate.  I've used them at various times for additional plantings, and they have always been responsible and given me a fair price

Their price was reasonable although I am not sure as I did not have any other service provider come and give me a quote. They had told me what the price was going to be beforehand. They were very nice. They did a good job. They were professional and personable.

Good. Blueberry plants survived and permanent screening is keeping the birds away. I did the screening. Workers did what I wanted done and how.
