Auto Tires, Auto Service
Initially, I thought the transaction went well. I had purchased 2 tires for a 2000 4x4 truck, and they were mounted on my vehicle. Sometime after this, I was out of town and had problems with one of the tires. The vendor that looked at my tire refused to work on it, as it was a passenger tire instead of a truck tire. They told me due to liability reasons that they were unable to touch it, unless I replaced the tire and purchased a truck tire.
I returned to the vendor when I got back in town, and advised them what had happened. I was initially told that the tire was a passenger tire, but that it was approved for use on trucks. After contacting the manufacturer of the vehicle and the manufacturer of the tires, I was told otherwise. In fact, the manufacturer of the tire told me specifically that this problem had arisen before and the corporate offices had been advised that theses were not truck tires. I also took pictures of the label on the door showing the proper tire specifications. I was also advised that my automobile insurance might not pay if an accident occurred due to having incorrect tires on the vehicle. After finally calling the corporate location of this store and speaking with the store manager, they finally admitted that the tires would have to be replaced.
The service department (manager included) was unable to remove the spare tire, and told me that if I was able to get the tire off, they would look at it and see the shape it was it. I ended up having to leave the location and go to an automobile dealer to get the tire removed, They were able to use the rod thaen rt I had in the truck to remove it. I then returned to the original vendor. The location did not have the tires in stock, so I had to return to the the following day. The tires were replaced and mounted. However, when they finished, they rod and handle were not returned to the tray in the truck where they mounted the spare. tire back. I had to return to the store again, and they were not able to find it. I was advised to order another one, and they would reimburse me.
Overall, I now have truck tires instead of passenger tires on my truck. However, I spent part of 3 days and multiple trips to the store to get the problem corrected.
