Denny was professional, on time, incredibly positive and helpful. The tasks took far longer than anticipated when compared to a different handyman who had previously performed a similar project, however.
Response from The HAPPY Handyman
"Thanks for the review, but I'm not Denny and I never did this work. Please remove this review as you have lowered my rating!"

Ron puts a lot of care and attention into his craftsmanship, and it shows in the work he produces. He is very detail-oriented and treats your home as if it were his own. One thing to note for future clients, Ron only charges you for the labor, so you have to buy the materials for the job yourself. He does, though, give you an itemized listing of each supply he needs so that you can easily put in an order for those things yourself. We didn't realize ahead of time that we had to buy the materials, so we were not prepared on day one of the work, but he was understanding and brought in some of his own supplies to get started on the job. We recommend Ron, and would not hesitate to hire him again.

Ron gave me a simple, easy to understand estimate based on his estimated time necessary for the repairs and the material he would need. I accepted his bid, which was the lowest of two. A third company wanted to charge me $90 to submit a bid and a fourth potential bidder did not show up to make his bid. Ron did everything he promised, and more. He found and repaired two significant problems I had not seen. He also spent significantly more time on the job than he anticipated, but he still charged me only for the amount of time he estimated the job would take - and he deducted $10 from the material cost, which was lower than his estimate.

Very well. Ron met me within 24 hrs of our first phone call to go over the job. He was very knowledgeable I gave me some good ideas. He starts in about 1 week. I was referred to him by a friend and his pricing seems very fair. I will review him again once the job is complete.

Easygoing, professional, honest, and skilled. Was concerned about charging by the hour rather than the job, but Ron, The HAPPY Handyman was focused and time efficient and is proficient at all that he does. Have called him in the past and will call him again in the future if needed. He does not charge for travel time or a travel fee. He has Special Offers at times, plus ongoing discounts for Angie's List members and Seniors, which is always appreciated. Recommend him to anyone .

I can't say enough good things about Ron and the work he did. My vinyl kitchen floor and subfloor beneath it were in rough shape, and unbeknownst to either of us until the work was started, the underlayment was covered in mold. Ron took his time and made sure the subfloor was solid and the new tiles were laid and grouted perfectly. Although the job took longer than estimated, he stuck with the original bid, only charging me extra for removing the underlayment, which I could see for myself was a big job in itself. He cleaned up after himself at the end of each day, and he was nice to my dog. My new floor is beautiful! I have a lot more I want to do in my house, and I will definitely hire Ron again.

I found Ron through Angie's List and contacted him about two projects: a very simple subway tile backsplash for my kitchen and new tile for my bathroom. Ron provided me with quotes for these services that were on the high side, but I went ahead with the backsplash project because of the a time crunch in finishing up our kitchen. If he had done a good job, I would have had him do the bathroom as well. We were unable to be there while Ron was doing the work, but I gave him specific instructions. He informed me he would not even cash the check I left before sending me pictures to "make sure I was happy." HOWEVER, he did a terrible job. The day he first came by, there was no communication about the status of the project. I looked at the tile after it was laid but had not been grouted and indicated some pieces needed to be recut. He told me grout would make it unnoticeable and I immediately regretted hiring him. This man is not detail-oriented or a professional. I offered to pay for him to rent a wet saw to make more precise cuts and he said he would recut the pieces. The next day, Ron came back but again there was no communication (and certainly no pictures). My husband quickly went by the house and noticed that there was an area where Ron had made the grout line so large it had holes in it. He also got grout all over our cabinets and sink (and our floor, as we discovered later) that was not cleaned up. My husband reached out to Ron who said he would come by while we were at work the next day and fix the holes. The next day, we both went by and the holes were not fixed. Upon further inspection, Ron had not recut the tiles he said he would (or if he did, he is extremely unskilled in tile cutting, as in I have DIYed a similar project with better results). Further, without being told to, he grouted all around our beautiful new sink, on top of a butcher block countertop I had explained to him not to touch because it was still curing. As a result, our sink, which we were waiting to caulk on the underside as directed, now has disgusting brown uneven grout all around it where the stain seeped in. Worst of all, he dislodged our sink from where it was intended to sit, instead of tiling around it. In doing so, he created a gap between the sink and the cabinets and broke part of our cabinet. I immediately reached out to Ron and told him this. He did not get back to me until the next day, at which point he was highly unprofessional and dismissive, and indicated we would need to wait until after the holidays to deal with it. He also made innapropriate remarks about our house and photos. When I asked that he accommodate our schedules as these were his mistakes, he stopped replying to me at all. Oh, and since he wouldn't pick up his phone, this is all in writing via text message. So much for a "lifetime guarantee." This guy is a jerk and a crook. Stay far, far away.
Response from The HAPPY Handyman
"The job was completed a few days before Christmas. There's nothing wrong with the installation. Apparently the stain used for the countertop began to leach into the grout and discolored it. I went back twice to address the issues they were texting to me in pictures. I told the clients I'd be happy to meet with them after Christmas, a matter of a few days, They refused. On Dec. 27 I sent a follow up text offering to set up an appointment for the following Saturday, they responded with this review. I realize sometimes there are people you can't please no matter how hard you try but I've never had a client who wasn't willing to come to their own project to discuss a problem. This whole situation is a bit bizarre!"
