Consumer BEWARE ? I would NOT recommend using William H. Fryar Inc.  Billy Fryar?s lack of professionalism, failure to deliver as promised and poor quality of product delivered is the worst I have ever experienced.  I have never been so disappointed, frustrated, and lost faith in any other person as much as I have with Mr. Fryar.

My story begins in January 2014 when my home was significantly damaged by a fire.  I had a Contractor working for me at the time doing a bath and kitchen remodel.  As I already had this Contractor, I elected to continue to use him for the reconstruction of the home.  My Insurance Adjuster and Contractor?s estimates of the cost to repair the home were significantly different, in the range of >$100,000.  To help resolve this and at the recommendation of a member of the Chattanooga Remodelers Council, Billy Fryar was contracted to provide an estimate of the repair costs, using the same estimating tool as the insurance company.   During my initial meeting with Billy, he was very personable and assured me that he would act as my advocate in dealing with the insurance company and would do everything possible to reduce the amount of ?out of pocket? expense I would incur because of the estimate differences.

It took over two months to get the initial estimate, all the time, no reconstruction or work was occurring on my home and I was/am residing in temporary living conditions.

Finally in April, Billy provided an estimate and he, my Contractor and I met to discuss the details.  Billy?s estimate was close in total dollar value to what my Contractor felt the overall costs would be.  I asked Billy how much of the estimate could be questioned or disputed and his reply was ?it is solid, at most there may be $10,000 that could be discussed/disputed?.  I submitted his estimate to my Insurance Adjuster and Insurance Company.  Within two weeks, my Insurance Adjuster had gone through Billy?s estimate in detail and found numerous duplications, unexplained costs, and gross errors.  Specifics were:

Estimate includes remove and replace for most items, yet demolition is factored in the estimates for removing damaged items. (Double counting)

Demolition for $1,800, already addressed in original estimate, plus the code upgrade estimate, plus the items that are factored as ?remove / replace?

Chimney replacement for $5,400, this was not fire damaged.

Finish Carpentry - one line item entry for $37,284, no details provided and this appears to be all duplicative as the estimate itself already has trim in the items.

The Office total of $12,122.56 appears to be a duplication of items already factored in the same estimate for room Office.

The Master Bedroom total of $9,160 appears to be a duplication of items already factored in the same estimate.

The Upstairs Bath total of $5,422 appears to be a duplication of items already factored in the same estimate.

The Laundry total of $981 appears to be a duplication of items already factored in the same estimate.

The Framing and Roofing items which total $56,943 appear to be a duplication of items already factored in the same estimate.

My Contractor and I again met with Billy to discuss the input from the Insurance Adjuster.  During the meeting all Billy did was take notes and say ?hmmm, maybe he?s right, or hmmm, he has a point there?.  His original ?it is solid, at most there may be $10,000 that could be discussed/disputed? was obviously not correct as my Insurance Adjuster just disputed over $100,000 in the estimate.  Billy committed to reevaluating the estimate and getting back to me and my Contractor within a week --- this was late April.

In July, Billy did resubmit to me and my Contractor an estimate ? unfortunately he made limited changes, the estimate still contained all of the items previously disputed by my Insurance Adjuster.  It is now late August, Billy has not responded to my Contractor or me.  I have sent emails via his website and have attempted to call him ---- this is useless as he does not answer his phone and his voice mail box is always full so no message can be left.  I have basically paid Billy Fryar over $4000 for nothing but aggravation.

Again, Consumer, stay away from William H Fryar Inc unless you want an unresponsive and unprofessional contractor.  This has been the worst experience ever ? find someone in need and take advantage of them should be his company motto.

They had promised 2or3 days for completion, but it took 4 and 1/2 days.  Messy work had to pick up nails and other articles.  When I agreed to the job being done I was promised a lifetime warranty in writing, never recieved even thou I have called 4 times requesting contract. Workers compained about not being Paid.
I would not refer this company to anyone they do not finish what they start.

We were in the process of trying to sell our house and the deal was contingent upon a new roof being installed.  We shopped several roofing companies and we were surprised that we did not hear back from most.  I was contacted by one of their sales associates who was very professional and pleasant to deal with.  After meeting with us at our home and identifying our needs she scheduled for one of her roof inspectors to come out and take measurements etc in order to give us a quote.  Once we signed the contract for services to be performed we were put on schedule for the replacement.  I was kept in the loop if there were weather delays etc via email until the job took place.
The job was completed all in one day, the crew showed up around 7:30 a.m. and worked non stop until sunset.  They left my home clean and free of any debris, I was very impressed!  Our roof was inspected once again to ensure that everything was installed to their standards and  closed a week later.  The warranty that we received was transferable to the new home owner which was a bonus.

After contacting our insurance company on our own and they sent us a $750 check for the roof repair we paid another company to come out and repair and we continued to have leaks so we called William H. Fryar Inc. to come out and inspect our roof and they documented ALL damaged areas that were clearly damaged by wind and hail and we submitted their report to our insurance company and they sent out another adjuster and approved for our roof to be replaced.  Everyone was great, they were very courteous, we love our new roof it is beautiful.  I was really concerned about left over nails so they sent another crew out with magnets to go over the yard again to give me peace of mind since I have grand children.
Once the work was completed they sent someone out to inspect my roof to ensure that it was installed to correctly and to make sure that we were satisfied with their work, I was so pleased I recommended my sister to contact them and she lives in Knoxville, TN.

We were hit by the tornado on 4/27/2011 in Apison, TN.  Our roof was damaged and had to be replaced.  These people are scam artists.  Please be very careful.  They had us sign a contract for all the work (and there was alot) for our home to be fixed back to the original condition before the storm.  So far, one year later, nothing is fixed except the roof.  They had a crew of non-english speaking Mexican workers come to do our roof.  We have a large 4600 sq. foot home so the roof is large.  They were messy, we have lost 4 tires due to the nails they never cleaned up and  they put the roof on wrong.  We are now suing them to get our roof fixed.  All of the damage done by the storm is still visible as they have never done any of the work.  My fence, I finally had to pay someone else just to put up a dog run so we could get our animals back after 8 months.  Please stay away from this company.  There is alot more to this story but I would be on here all night.  Not a reputable company.
