Super Handy Husband

He started out great doing an excellent job on the crown molding. Unfortunately that is where the good stopped. He not only overshot the time deadline by 3 weeks it was like pulling teeth to get him out here to fix his mistakes. He left paint all of the floors and tried to blame us for it. He left walls with huge runs and streaks and even missed painting some trim and tried to claim that he had painted it. We made the mistake of not getting a written contract and taking a verbal contract. The final straw was when he left paint on the trim. We told him that would put a stop payment on the last check and that we needed him to come and fix the errors. He told us that he would just put a lien on our home and that we were being crazy. As other reviewers have said he is late frequently and often calls and reschedules. It took him five days to come out to clean the paint off the floors and even then he came for 30 minutes and told us he would be back the next day. Sure enough the next day he shows up late as well. It becomes very stressful to deal  with as this was supposed to take 3 days to do and it took him 35 days to complete and left us with work unfinished. We will have to have someone else fix it because  he bullied us with a lien. PLEASE GET A WRITTEN CONTRACT. He will add things in and it cost us an extra $400. We were only supposed to pay $1200 but with the threat of the lien we had no other options. I hope this reviews helps others avoid our mistakes.

The majority of the fence was fixed but he left with full payment without fixing a portion of the fence. After I called him twice, sent him an email and my husband calling him, he did return, but a day later than when he said he would. When he did return, he neglected to fix the numerous loose fence boards that he had said he would screw on tightly and repair. He did fix the majority of the fence, but I am sad he did not fix all we had discussed and he agreed to fix. I felt very stressed by his not returning on t he day he said he would and now I am stuck having to find someone else to fix the loose fence boards. My grass is still showing signs of paint color from where he washed off his paints supplies on my front lawn.

Wow. Can't say enough good about the Super Handy Husband. Well, I am married to the #1 Super un-handy hubby. We just bought a home that needed work, and we needed a handyman.  Mark has been great. The house looks amazing. He is fair and honest. And the work is quality. And he even cleans up after himself. He has another guy, Nick, now working with him. Nick is great with wiring. We had a wall re-done (a bigger issue than we all imagined, but you never know when you remove a wall what you will find!) Mark did a great job with making the wall safe and finished nicely. He even installed door locks (yep, we bought a home without working exterior door locks!). And I am sure one day the persimmon (pinkish orange) deck that he power washed and painted will grow on him ;)   He tried to convince us to take the nice shade of brown, which did look very good. And the lighter brown/green shade he picked was nice too.  But we wanted to make a bold statement with color in the backyard. And we LOVE the color!  

**  We highly recommend Mark for handyman work and home remodel. He also has a great sense of color and style, and knows what looks good with the home.  This is a rare find in a handyman! Give Mark a call and you won't be disappointed.  **

EDIT ---- see above. I cant say enough GET ESTIMATES IN WRITING, AND GET A DETAILED RECEIPTS OF COST OF MATERIALS. DO NOT PAY UNTIL WORK IS COMPLETED PER WORK ORDER.  Mark started off doing great work, but in the end work quality/ethics just diminished.



EDIT AGAIN !!! 5-8-2013 
Gas company out checking the gas lines, check our water heater install by Mark. The  water heater failed inspection, the rubber house for water overflow was a safety hazard and could melt. The gas company says this is a  SAFETY HAZARD and needs replaced. So we are calling a real contractor to fix this issue correctly. We will not be calling Mark to fix the water tank he improperly installed.
