After a terrible experience with another moving company (fraud, not a real company, found off Craigslist), we picked several A rated movers from Angie's List and started making phone calls. The issue was that when the other movers didn't show, we had budgeted that weekend for time to move and really needed to get it done.
Of course, almost everyone was booked up, but Summer movers had a last-minute cancellation and got us in the very next morning after we called.Their original estimate seemed a bit high and we declined (they quote by the job, not the hour). They called back shortly after we hung up, but with a slightly lower estimate which we still thought was high, considering the hourly rates and time we thought it would take to move us since we had everything stripped and boxed and ready to go, but we needed it done and agreed.
They were slightly early, brought an extra trailer and quot;just in caseand quot; the estimated furniture was less than actual, and got started very quickly. Since they don't quote by the hour, they moved like they had a purpose, and it still took 15-20 minutes longer than we thought, a little longer to drive to the new house with the trailer than we budgeted, and another half hour longer to unload everything than we thought as well, so all together it took an hour longer than budgeted.
When comparing to the and quot;hourly rateand quot; companies, we only spent $40 more than it would have otherwise cost us, and they did it last minute, so we are quite pleased with the service they provided and the amount quoted. There was no up-charging, no and quot;extrasand quot;, nothing unexpected at all. Not a single thing was damaged in any way, they wrapped and padded just about everything. All in all, Bob and his assistant were both very friendly, professional, and got it done right.

The company was punctual, professional, and did exactly what we expected. One of the workers even drove a car for us.

Everything went extremely well. Bob came from Nashville to Columbia about a month and half ahead of the move to assess the situation and prepare his quote. Then he and his guys came down twice in the final days before the move to pack the moving truck headed for Texas and to pre-pack and "stage" the big move to North Carolina. On the day of the move the trucks were loaded quickly and efficiently and they began unloading in North Carolina the next morning. Several things stand out about Sumner Movers. Bob and his guys are friendly, professional and were always willing accommodate and be flexible. They were timely and they were good at their tasks. They custom built a wood crate to move a 5 X 8.5 foot wall mirror which they then hung in the new house. They moved the baby grand piano. The same guys who pack the trucks on the front end are the ones who unload it on the back end. In our case we were moving an elderly parent and at all times they were respectful, considerate, helpful and mindful of the emotions that accompany such a move from a home filled with memories.
